This is what the border to the carpark looked like, an unloved, weedy and neglected strip of earth, ivy and brambles. Rach had a vision. She wanted the yard to welcome visitors, the Home to look loved and cared for, to lift the spirits of everyone working and helping there and to give the dogs some exquisite smells to enjoy and explore. She and Bern got to work clearing. One end cleared And then the planting started: Planting out the border with marigolds, forget me nots, lemon balm, rosemary, mint, foxgloves and other native plants that not only look amazing but have strong scents for people and the dogs to enjoy. Baz getting well into exploring and sniffing I you have any plants/cuttings or large plant pots you could donate to help fill the garden and bring down to 'Last Sundays' Rach would be very grateful.

Some of you may remember how neglected the lane used to look.... Here's a pic of the bottom of the lane a few months ago. It was pictures like this that inspired a group of Friends to become 'Litter Champions' in conjunction with Keep Wales Tidy ;D If it looks like no-one cares, people will think it's not worth caring about. If it looks like we care, it will transform the way people think about it. Sooooo proud to be a part of this

Amazing job on the border Rach and Bern.
The lane looks tons better with the litter cleared and I'm really pleased that after mine and Bern's initial litter pick, it now only needs maintenance work to keep the litter down.
I like the signs all the way along the lane to remind everyone to bag the poop. A great idea.
Susie's right, if it looks cared about it changes people's perception. Image counts such a lot. ;D

Yep, back in April Friends met with 'Keep Wales Tidy' who issued us with litter picking equipment. Bern and Caz did an amazing initial litter pick - here's the result of one mornings work - and it took quite a few to clear the whole lane
