how did the fayre go?
Whilst the hard core Friends Fundraisers were pounding the streets of Cardiff doing the fun run, this is how the 'softies' did their bit ;D
We arrived nice and early, picked our spot - right next to the lovely peeps on the burger stall -
RESULT ;D
Popped over to give Hope a hand erecting their gazebo, survey the land, and watch the day unfold as people started to arrive ;D
It was absolutely lovely to meet Holly & Co, although I do owe
Team Human Fruit Machine a public apology
When they arrived I didn't realise they were Friends, and so I tried to sell them raffle tickets, persuade them to buy bandana's for their cute assistant, enter every class in the show, and told them to come back when the Human Fruit Machine was set up.....
Holly very bravely interrupted the Baglady to say very loudly
'WE ARE THE HUMAN FRUIT MACHINE'!!!!!! *ahem*
And they were - magnificent
'Cute Assistant'
The HFM did
really well all day
Thank you soooooooo much Holly & Co, you really made my day, and we couldn't have managed without you
This left Bern & Caz free to set up the CARIAD stall, which Friends are so proud to represent .....
... and the lovely Amanda looking after the stall
... and selling bandanas like hot cakes!
Before Amanda saw her...
After Amanda saw her...
'TWO PLEASE'
And this little lovely (yep, sporting a Friends bandana) is Ellie, who is famous in her own right
Ellie's owners told us that she was adopted from CDH almost exactly 10 years ago, and was the first dog to be microchipped at CDH
Apparently, she was front page news in the Capital Times
Another bandana please!
er, we ran out of medium girlie bandanas
Soz Stitchers United, time to get your machines a-running! They sold, under the gentle persuasion of Amanda (killer saleswoman), like hot cakes ;D
Hmmmmm, talking of cakes *licks lips* ..... cakes
Nice one Bern! and Miss Nightingale, who's a lucky winner then?
We also bumped into Cody, a recent CDH resident who is now (very clearly) a much loved doglet...
and who remembers this beauty......
It's our very own, Webbox munching Cheyenne
looking absolutely
FABULOUS And with lots of Friends helpers, there was plenty of chill time for everyone
Caz & Sadie...
Lynne, getting a bit of lurchery lovin'....
I'm putting this pic in...
...because this is the only picture I took of Cousin Becky (seated at the back of this snap). Reason I only got one picture is because as well as looking after the cuddly stall tombola with Lynne and Friend Lauren, Becky beavered away all day ensuring that water bowls were placed all around the venue, and trudged back and forth to a kindly local householder to fill bottle after bottle after bottle with water for the dogs who came to the show
...
and when everyone else had packed up and gone home, did a solo litter pick of the green, which (to her embarrassment, but totally deserved) raised a round of applause and a 'Hip Hip Hooray' from the organisers
I don't know who these lovely people were, but they bought 'one of everything'
even though I nobbled them twice for raffle tickets
Thanks both, and kisses for your lovely doglet
Does anyone know these people
Lovely to see you Amy! And thanks for putting 12th August in your diary
It's going to be
MASSIVE ;D
Random crowd picture #1
And random crowd picture #2
Well done Ken & Wendy, your rottie pup was an absolute crowd (and judge) pleaser
All in all, we had a very lovely, leisurely afternoon ;D If there had been a local village cricket derby on the adjacent green, I think I could have even persuaded OH to come
And we swelled the coffers
Altogether we raised a fabulosa
£155.00, which for an afternoon in the sun, really isn't too bad at all
Mahoosive thanks to Julie for inviting us - we wouldn't have missed it for the world ;D
