Please note - the application procedure for adopting dogs requires that all family members and resident pets come to meet the dog you wish to adopt before the application can be processed by the staff. If the whole family is not committed to offering a forever home to one of our dogs, please don't waste the staffs time by putting in applications that cannot proceed. Hi, I am very interested in adopting one of the dogs in your care. This dog would have the best home it could find anywhere for the rest of its life but unfortunately though I do understand the adoption procedure of ALL family members coming to meet the dog at the kennels, there are times when this cannot be, like for instance our son who lives with us and absolutely adores all animals, not just dogs, has work commitments that wouldn't enable him to come for the visit, but due to this procedure you have, that would be one less dog without a VERY good home. Surely you could make exceptions? The Home is open 7 days a week Tania, and is open until 6pm on Mondays and Thursdays. The application procedure is pretty straightforward, I don't think the staff have ever been asked this before. It wouldn't matter if he didn't come the same time as the rest of the family, but the chemistry has to be right with everyone who is going to share their home with a dog. Hope this helps xx

It depends on the dog / breed. Prices range from £95 to £150, but this includes microchipping, neutering, and first vacs.

I am seriously considering adopting a dog at some point in the near future, as my little girlie seems quite down since my daughter and grandson moved out. If we find the right dog, on average how long does it take for home checks etc to be completed? Thanks

Hello Looby
Its usually a fairly quick process and can be completed within a couple of days.
Best thing to do is visit the home and find a little four legged friend that would fit your family first and then talk to the staff about the process.
Good luck

Hellooo. Just wanted to clarify some things about dog walking I came down for the induction last weekend so am all registered and ready to go. I work full time so it will mostly be weekends that I can do and when I get the odd day off. I can't remember for the life of my what the times are for walking on the weekends and also do I just turn up or do I need to let someone know I'm coming? Also I want to check what I need to bring - I bought a lead last week so that's sorted, do I also need to bring poo bags and treats? I know from reading the forums that some dogs get treats out on walks and some don't. I've just registered for the forum so once that's been approved I'll be sure to post a proper post to introduce myself

Hey Jackie, welcome on board! Wakey wakey walks start at 8am for the early risers amongst us, and then you can walk all day until around 3.45pm. Dogs need to be back in kennels in time for the Homes closing at 4pm. Its later until 5.45pm on a Monday and Thursday if ever you get a chance to get down during the week. There are usually poo bags in reception but I always keep a supply in my car just in case they are running low. Treats, not many of the dogs will say no and generally, the tastier the treat, the better the dog cuddles you get A few of the more ahem "foodie" dogs dont get treats on walks but the staff will let you know about these. Hope that helps, if you have any other questions just ask away!

Awesome, thanks for the quick reply Becky! So I can just turn up after 8am? No need to call ahead or anything like that? I think I'll go and buy some treats tonight ready for tomorrow
