I can pop a couple of posters around. Just outside of Cardiff but not too far away. May generate some interest. Where can we pick up the posters from?

Hi Collie You don't need to bring anything - just willing hands! We have loads of teddies that we use for the tombola, we have tables, and we have raffle tickets. We usually do 'even numbers win' and have a box of sweets or lollies as consolation prizes, although if a child has two goes we do make sure they win on the second go We normally ticket up the cuddlies on the day, so there's nothing you need to do beforehand, and I'll be bringing everything in the van on the day. Thanks so much, I really hope you enjoy the day with us, you'll be in good hands with Sandra at your side

After speaking with Susie today, I am going to be doing nail painting and tattoos for the kids. The kids always love it at our school fairs, and it's a great way to bring in some extra funds for the dogs. So, if anyone has any unwanted nail varnish hanging around that they would like to donate please can you drop it in to Cardiff Dogs Home. Please put it in a bag with my name on and let me know it's there. Thank you I will also be taking the recycling bags and boxes, so if you have any used ink jet cartridges or old unwanted mobile phones, you can drop them off in the boxes or take a freepost envelope home with you. I will need a few helpers if anyone fancies a sitting down job.

It's all coming together eh? I thought I'd put up a list of a few 'wanted' items for the day. If anyone is able to schmooze anything from your local supermarket, please let us know! There are now plenty of posters at CDH too, so please pick up a handful when you're passing the Home. When I first started my 'blagging' career, I realised very quickly that not everyone can say 'yes' - perhaps it's a shop's policy, perhaps they have gone over budget on their charity donations, but often they don't like saying 'no' to a charity, so I always try to make sure I'm giving them an opportunity to say 'yes' to something, even if they can't donate. It just makes the experience of asking less intimidating... So, take a poster, make sure you are speaking with the 'decision maker' (I usually ask for the manager and add very quickly that I'm not there to make a complaint)... tell them about the show, ask for whatever it is you want, and if it's a 'no' tell them you totally understand and ask whether they would be able to display the poster? This gives them an 'out' because usually they will, if they can't say yes to that ask them if they could pass the poster on to a neighbour or friend who is a dog lover... At some point you should get a 'yes' response - so you can thank them profusely and leave the shop with no-one feeling awkward or embarrassed. It does work I promise! So, wanted items.... NAIL POLISH - for Karen, not new from shops, but ask your friends, your sisters, aunts, co-workers if they have any they can spare... BURGER BAPS AND HOT DOG ROLLS - for our Barbie! Our chef de jour (yet to be announced) will be preparing Banger & Burger Baps on the day. We will buy what we can't beg, but if your local butcher or supermarket is willing to donate a dozen baps, a pound of sausages, a pack of burgers, or some rolls, that will mean everything we make on the food will be pure profit for the dogs! If you are able to get a promise of goodies, please arrange to collect as late as possible on the Saturday, or on the Sunday morning, and bring directly to the event on the Sunday. If anyone is able to secure a donation please post up here so we have an idea of what we need to buy. SOFT DRINKS - ditto the above, if your local supermarket or corner shop is willing to donate some soft drink cans/bottles this will all add to the kennel fund! We still need someone with a Food Hygiene Certificate to help out with the food, so if anyone knows anyone, please send them our way. Thanks folks - we're getting there

It might be worth approaching Warburtons for bread rolls. They have donated a pile of rolls for the burgers and sausages at our school summer fayre :-)

Sounds like a good idea Rach Are you able to approach them and ask? Will you let us know how it goes? Forgot to put on our 'Wanted' list - we'll be doing teas, coffees, squash etc, and will have a cold food stall for cakes, quiche etc. So any donations of sweet or savoury that can be served cold will also be very welcome

I've just had a quick look and it looks as though you can apply online, there's some questions to answer about who you are, what you want and why. www.warburtons.co.uk/corporate/responsibility/best-for-the-community/product-donationI can fill it in if you want but I might not have all the answers! They want to know if you can collect any donations they make (port talbot or bristol are closest by the looks of things) or whether you need them delivered - if so where. I don't mind doing it but I'll probably have to come back here and check whether my answers are right so it might end up easier for someone who has a bit more of a clue to fill in themselves rather than me going back and for :-)

I have just had my request for burgers and sausages donation accepted, they were asking how many. Seeing the above post 250 of each I will tell them, they may only do part but that's better than nothing!!!
