Please give a big wave to Chuck
We say wave as we are pretty certain that Chuck is deaf, he shows no reaction to noises but food and cuddles are a great way to grab his attention
"oooh you've got the touch Aunty Sus"
Someone has obviously put in a bit of work with Chuck as he already does a cracking sit and paw with just hand signals
Chuck is finding kennel life very stressful at the moment but it must be a very confusing time for him. He is a in a strange environment and is probably missing his family He is starting to settle well though and was a delight to be around today at his photoshoot. He was very gentle taking treats from us and enjoyed a cuddle from everyone with the biggest grin on his face!
There are plenty of resources online regarding deaf dogs and there is a wonderful group called the Deaf Dog Network who offer advice and give training tips. You can find their Facebook page here .
Chuck will be available for rehoming from 23rd February and if you'd like more info, please phone the Dogs' Home: 029 2071 1243 or visit Cardiff Dogs' Home, Westpoint Industrial Estate, Penarth Road, open 7 days a week, 10.30 - 4pm. Mon/Thurs till 6pm

I went to get this fella out of his kennel on Sunday. He was clearly excited to be going out but waited patiently while I put his lead on. When we got to the reception door there were lots of people about so I asked them all to step back so I could walk him through. We took about three steps, he stopped, looked up at me and gently got on his back legs and put his head on my chest. Now I know (and really really sorry Baglady!!!) that we have 'four paws on the ground' rule but Chuck clearly needed a cwtch at that moment and he was just so gentle so ....we had a major major hug fest which actually brought tears to my eyes!!! There was a resounding 'awwwww' from the folk waiting .....and my heart was his!!! Yes, this is now starting to sound like a mills n boon novel (LOL!!!) but this fella got me hook, line and sinker at that moment! Fabulous pooch that needs a loving home so that he can have big cwtches whenever he wants! If it only could be mine!!!

*This is going to be VERY photo heavy, but it's worth it* On Sunday, Michele, Ricki, Rhys, Susie and Myself hopped in the cars and took Max, Cassie and Chuck to the beach!! Chuck sat on the floor by my feet for the journey down, but really I think he would have preferred to have been snuggled up with Max in the crate in the back. At one point Chuck, who isn't small, decided my lap was where he wanted to sit - and I didn't mind at all, he gives lovely cuddles. Anyway, I'll let the photos do the talking, he LOVED it (and yes there is a video coming because let's face it I am camera woman haha). Chuck started off a lovely shade of white.... Max decided he needed a little mud patch just on his back... either that or it was a massage! I think he's read somewhere that seaweed is good for you! And then this happened.... Which made Chuck turn into the Dogs Home long jump champion And we ended up with Chuck changing colour.... Now that's one happy dog.

Fabulous fabulous boy!!
Nothing fazes him at all. He's desperate to get out of his kennel when he knows you are there to take him out, but despite that he waits so quietly and patiently whilst you put on his lead or harness and doesn't budge until he knows you have finished!!
He gets on with all the pooches (even think he's got bit of a bromance going on with Max...or perhaps that's more wishful thinking on Max's part!!), he's fab to walk on the lead and does a beautiful sit and wait when you motion him to do so.
He may be a big fella but he is such an amazing boy.......oh have I said he does amazing cwtches??
There MUST be a forever sofa out there for him?!?!!?
Oh, if you do visit him in his kennel he does stay at the back so motion and wait for him to come forward and he does with tail awagging?!?!

I spent time with this boy today at the meet and greet he was great! Enjoyed having cuddles, loved his treats and was quite happy with all the attention. I didn't realise he was deaf at the time.... He'd be a lovely pet!

Chuck did his bit again on Sunday at the meet n greet at Pets at Home #MakeMeSmile Support Adoption for Pets fundraising drive! He's a fab pooch and absolutely lurves both two and four legged pals! He just wants to play with all the other pooches......and pinch their stuffed hooves whenever they weren't looking!!! Ahem!! I also discovered Chuck thinks he's a mountain goat as he loved to climb on things to have a sniff at something that was interesting him higher on the shelf in Pets at Home...he was in heaven with all those lovely smells around!!! Once we got back to the home I gave him some off lead time in the garden....oh boy did he love that, tearing around and then jumping up on the sofa in the summer house for a cwtch fest! Our time was cut short as a queue had begun to form outside with other CDH pooches wanting their fun in the garden........this is when the inner tinker in him really decided to come out!! It wasn't easy trying to catch him to get him back on the lead as he was loving it sooo much.... you could see him laughing at the great 'game' we were having!!! In truth, he's pretty easy to get back on the lead as he's so well behaved, it was just great to see him enjoying himself so much!! I popped into see him before I left for the day.........no chance...he was flat out snoring on his bed!!! :-)

I met Chuck at the Meet and Greet a couple of weeks ago, and I've been smitten with him ever since. I've taken him out a few times and he's such a lovely boy. Such a shame that he's so overlooked, he's so inquisitive on walks and is always eager to socialise with other dogs. He'd be a wonderful pet for anyone, he's got so much love to give. I hope someone can give him a forever home soon.

We took this lovely lump of loveliness to Cosmeston last weekend for a family walk. He travelled well in the car and he would have had his head out of the window shouting "woooo hooooo!!" if he could have I'm sure!! He loved our 2 young children and the feeling was certainly mutual as he has such a lovely gentle character!
He's a hunky boy and with his hearing off, he initially took us for a walk!! We decided to use the harness then which was much better for him and he soon got the hang of it! He was fantastic with other dogs and it was a real pleasure to walk such a non reactive dog - especially as it was very busy there! Good boy Chuck!! He was so good we decided to stop for lunch and he just settled down quietly like he was an old pro. The family on the table next to us said they didn't even realise we had a dog with us!
If you have the time and dedication to have a lovely dog in your life, with an amazing personality, you could be special enough for Chuck! I'm sure the Dogs Home could recommend someone to help support Chuck's training via hand signals. To be honest as long as we caught his attention before asking him to do something, his hearing really wasn't an issue, and he does a cracking sit and high five, so he's very smart!
Enjoying the lovin'!
Snoozing in the sun having a spot of lunch.....
Good luck Chuck!

I took Chuck out for the first time today and just want to echo what everyone else has said about him. He is an absolute softy with such a mild nature, he would love you back ten-fold. Although he is deaf - it made no difference on our walk, when we got to the zebra crossing he stopped and just waited until I started to walk again. What he lacks in hearing he makes up for in trust and affection. He is golden and deserves his loving forever home. There must be a big comfy sofa out there somewhere with this boys name on. Keeping everything crossed for Chuck.

Today we had the pleasure of walking with the delightful Chuck and Chico Chuck has a wonderful personality, he showed impeccable manners while waiting to cross the road and also sat patiently as cyclists went by. This loveable lad certainly enjoys giving out cuddles (Not that we were complaining!) We were lucky enough to visit the garden with Chuck and it was great to see him play and cwtch up on the comfy sofa. Even though there were lots of other dogs in the car park, Chuck calmly sat by my side and waited his turn to go back in. I really hope this lovely gentleman will find his forever home soon.
