Visitors to CDH just won't be able to pass K11 without saying hello to Amelia. She is an absolutely stunning young brindle crossbreed. She was brought in as a stray, so we know very little about her, other than she is very quiet and calm in her kennel, and she adores human company and cwtches.... if you like your girls on the large side, Amelia could be the one! She is soooooooo loving and affectionate! Amelia has been out for walks with the Purple Pilgrims. It seems she would benefit from some lead training, but if she hasn't been taught to walk nicely, that's hardly her fault. She is so people focussed, and so eager to be near you and to please you, we think she will be a very easy girl to work with once she knows and trusts you. Amelia is available for rehoming from 3rd March, and if you'd like more information on her, or any of the fabulous dogs at CDH who need a forever home, please phone the Dogs' Home: 029 2071 1243 or visit Cardiff Dogs' Home, Westpoint Industrial Estate, Penarth Road, open 7 days a week, 10.30 - 4pm. Mon/Thurs till 6pm

Amelia is absolutely beautiful! She came straight in for some comforting cuddles as soon as I sat down and tried to curl up in my lap. A real gentle giant. I really hope she's not hanging around long

I love this girl so much, she's just so soft and loving! I took her for a walk last Friday for the first time, she is a little pully but being stuck in her kennel for so long I can't blame her. She's brilliant around people, traffic, cyclists and other dogs but if she see's a bird or a rabbit, brace yourself as she attempts to chase it! On returning to the home, Susie and I tried her on a halti slip lead (our new favourite toy) and what a difference. Obviously she wasn't keen at first but 10 mins up and down the lane and she was walking like a dream. This girl could be trained in no time. You'll see her looking over the side of her kennel as soon as you go into the kennel block, I challenge you to be able to walk past without thinking how beautiful she is, I certainly can't!!

Had a great walk today with this cutie, she was so pleased to be out and kept looking round and grinning at me as we went. Such a lovely dog with bags of character. Very keen when we first went out but soon relaxed and enjoyed some great sniffs along the river. Good luck Amelia!

I met this lovely girl at the meet and greet today. She didn't mind people or dogs around her! Enjoyed her treats too!

Before I begin, I would like to say that both me and Cheryl usually go gooey for the little scruff bag terriers. Yesterday will forever be known as BA - Before Amelia I just dont know where to begin, this girl is utterly delightful She is big and nothing like a little scruffy terrier but I am head over heels in love with her! Amelia had just got back from a walk so we took her straight in the garden. We were expecting her to bound around like all the dogs do once they are let off lead but oh no, not Amelia! This girl headed straight for the sofa in the Summer House and refused to move. Her body was wriggling with excitement so we had no choice but to join her. Its fair to say, we didn't need to wash our faces last night! I don't think I have ever been kissed and cuddled so much in my life Kisses please Cheryl! And cuddles too! "Excuse me Bec, we are sharing a moment here, do you mind" I think Amelia would have been happy to stay giving us face washes all day but we did coax her out for a play! She's pretty fast and enjoyed chasing after the toys we had She also showed us that she knows sit and was very keen to show this off But even whilst playing in the garden, Amelia insisted on cuddles Amelia may be a big girl, but she is a bit of a scaredy cat, at one point she stood on a squeaky toy that she didn't realise was there, and I swear she jumped a foot in the air She then hid behind my legs So guess what? Yep, we had more cuddles! Amelia is just amazing! I always make sure I stop by and have a little chat when I pass her kennel but I had no idea how wonderful she really is, she is a fabulous girl! She is a true gentle giant who adores human affection and gives it back tenfold! I think this picture for me just sums her up - loving life whilst dishing out some love [img style="max-width:100%;" src=" Amelia, I know you enjoyed your time in the garden but I don't think you enjoyed it half as much as we did x

Oh I have been dying to see these photos of this beautiful girl! We had such a lovely time in the garden with her. As Becky said, I'm not usually falling for the 'biggies' as I like my pooches small and hairy lol. But my word I love this girl so much I knew she was affectionate as she always wants to say hi when you pass her kennel and I know other vols have said so, but I had no idea just how much she enjoys the cuddles. She leapt like a puppy with all four feet at the same time onto the sofa and was in raptures at having snuggles. Please please someone take her home, you really won't regret it!!

Its bonkers that Amelia is still there! She's beautiful and got a nature to match. Anyone looking for a slightly larger dog should be beating a path to her kennel! Hope she finds her place on a sofa really soon now

I really can't understand why this big beauty is still in kennels, she's gorgeous and a massive softy!! I took her for a nice walk over to grangemoor this afternoon and she had a lovely time sniffing everything, rolling in the grass and wallowing in the ditches still filled with water from the recent rain. I met my girlfriend jess at the top and she turned up with some smoothies from Costa. Amelia's eyes were fixed totally on my smoothie So I had to put some out for her to try She loved it and wouldn't stop giving me the puppy eyes, in the end I gave up and let her lick the rest from the cup, I think she had more of it than I did!! Amelia can be a little excitable coming out of her kennel, but she's really disliking it in their at the moment, so this is understandable, if you just get her walking quickly this soon stops. On returning to the home Susie and I gave her a run out in the garden. She loves bounding around chasing toys and her recall seems to be brilliant when called. When she decided to have a lay in the cool sand pit we were both giving her some belly rubs which she lapped up from us! You're time to show how much of an amazing pet you'd be is coming very soon Amelia, I know it is!!

I put a harness on Amelia this morning for our walk and I must say what a difference in how she walks. Hardly pulled at all and was very relaxed pottering along the whole way. We took a little stop for some doggy salad (grass) on the way up the lane Pretty much the whole walk Amelia was happy to stroll along with a barely tight lead stopping now and then to sniff in the grass or bushes. Amelia loves a fuss, so affectionate and a real gentle girl, she has the most enticing Amber coloured eyes. Amelia doesn't enjoy being in her kennel, she's definitely a different dog when you take her out, she really shows her personality and affectionate side. There must be someone out there for you Amelia. Please stop and say hello to her in Kennel 3, she will always come forward to greet you!
