Lola has been aged around 1-2 years old. She was fully of energy when she came out for her photo's, as soon as she had her lead on she was straight out of her kennel to investigate.
Once in the vet room she headed straight for the snorting pig toy and was ecstatic when she realised it made noises. she spent the first 10 minutes running around the vets room with it and had us in hysterics!
Look what I got!
She did play swap for a little bit with another toy, but she soon decided that Mr pig was the better toy and carried it around with her like a treasured possession.
Yes please I would love a cuddle aunty Cheryl, but I'm keeping Mr Pig!
Lola was able to show us a lovely sit for some treats
But then it was straight back to playing with her toys!
Lola is available for rehoming from 11th March. If you'd like more information on her, please phone the Dogs' Home: 029 2071 1243 or visit Cardiff Dogs' Home, Westpoint Industrial Estate, Penarth Road, open 7 days a week, 10.30 - 4pm. Mon/Thurs till 6pm
We had a little tidy up in the garden yesterday and lovely Lola very kindly offered her gardening services as help. When I say "help" I mean generally lounging around in the new summerhouse on the sofa
She did muster up a bit of energy for a good run around and just loved chasing around the garden after a tennis ball and fetching it back (but not always giving it back )
Yesterday was the first time I have spent time with Lola and she is just fabulous She is affectionate, gentle, playful and just utterly gorgeous! I cant understand why she hasnt been snapped up and just look, she really wont take up much room on a sofa
Good luck sweetheart, it was a pleasure spending time with you
I took the lovely Lola for a nice stroll this morning, I'm sure she enjoys her walks so much more wearing her new harness, she seems so much more relaxed and barely pulls at all. Lola loves nothing more than stopping to have a good sniff around, and she literally has her nose on overtime for the whole walk, I swear she'd be a fab sniffer dog!! We took a stop by the river and lola was very interested in what may be happening on the river.
She was very very interested in the passing duck and swan!
She was even more interested in what she could see in the water (though would not let herself fall in, used all her strength to ensure that didn't happen!)
Lola is just the most gorgeous affectionate girl, she's got a whole lot of love to give, this was evident when she had some time in the office on our return to the home. Lola just loved loved loved being around people, moving from one to another to get some back scratches and belly rubs in between throwing her teddy around playing. She was also very good at greeting the customers with her huge smile at the window! Someone must want a lola in their life? If you do you'll definitely be rewarded with lots of love and kisses for years to come!

The beautiful Lola was my second walk today and we went off for a nice long walk together. I love each and every dog at the home, but Lola is definitely my favourite at the moment!! She's just such a gorgeous, well natured girl and I just love spending time with her!! She walks so well on her new harness and just loves sniffing everything and exploring into the long grass and bushes. She's a massive softy too, we came across a disabled gentleman on our walk who was keen to make a big fuss of lola, and she just lapped up the attention. She loves a roll in the grass...
And while she's like this I can't help give her belly a big rub, which she just lays there and loves!!
Lola is another at the home that I really don't understand why she isn't generating any interest. She has got endless amounts of love and affection to dish out to that one person that is going to give this big beauty a chance. Please stop by kennel 40 and say hello, you'll always get a big greeting from Lola.
Well didn't this girl have quite the adventure with Jo & Charlotte on Saturday!
Lola hopped off to visit another volunteer in her brand new flat..!!!
First she tried out the rug...then the sofa
Then she tried the bed!!!!!
What a lucky girl! Jo couldn't speak more highly of how well behaved Lola was in a home, she didn't put a paw wrong, was really calm and was fine to be off lead the whole time - amazing.
This girl is a pet, she knows how to be in a home which is fantastic since she's probably been in kennels for a year now she's awesome....
How would you like to be greeted by this face everyday??
Lola has been with us since March, but has had very little genuine rehoming interest, and so to cheer her up we arranged a play-date today with toy-boy Troy, debonair young fellow-me-lad who lives just down the kennel block from Lola.....
The youngsters enjoyed a gentle stroll down the lane, chaperoned by staff member Rob and Miss Susie. No hanky panky on a first date if you please! By the time they got back to the yard, Lola was a smitten kitten, but young Troy is inexperienced in matters of love, and he was a little bashful at first.....
Lola flirted outrageously, she gave him her most winning smile. Troy wasn't impressed...
Change of tactics! Lola plays hard to get. The way to get a man's attention is to ignore him!
That worked! Troy: C'mon then girl, get your coat, you've pulled!
Lola is *a little* excited! er Lola, spit that pink ball out of your mouth!
Troy has asked Lola for a second date. He's taking her into the Sensory Garden tomorrow......
We were absolutely heartbroken to hear that Lola has, through absolutely no fault of her own, been returned to CDH.
The staff do everything possible to ensure that our dogs are rehomed to suitable applicants, but unfortunately sometimes things are not quite what they seem. Lola was a little traumatised when she was first returned to the Home, but over the last few weeks she has settled back in to her old routine, and is back to her playful and loving self, the Lola as have come to know and love so well.
She has put on a little weight since she left us, but was clearly not getting the exercise she needed, so come on walkers - make sure she's top of your list! Lola needs a little help with her New Year's resolution to shift a couple of those extra pounds!
When Lola was first returned I just couldn't believe she was back, but it did give Michele and I the chance to have a cwtch. Lola is still the happy most loving dog despite what she has been through. She seemed as happy as we were for a cuddle and all she wanted to do was hold on tight bless her. She wasn't trying to smother us in kisses, just wanted a good bear hug and she did have a good grip around my neck. I won't complain though, I just love spending time with Lola!
I'm so sorry for Lola that she didn't get the home she so deserved......but am glad she is back with people who truly love her and her amazing spirit.
Those pictures of her hugging Rhys and Michele are wonderful.....it shows what a loving and gentle soul she is
I hope you find the home that really deserves you very soon, beautiful girl and.....in the meantime......welcome back! There is not a thing unsuitable about you.........!
The lovely Lola had a hot date today with the handsome Ky (who'd popped in with his dad, staff member Dale). As it was a first date they were appropriately chaperoned but boy was it love at first sight!!
Both Lola and Ky were ecstatic to run around the garden with each other and just couldn't keep their paws of each other....ahem ;-)
It was amazing to see Lola so happy. She loved her date with Ky, but spent far too much time rolling in the mud trying to get Ky's attention.... which he of course duly obliged!!!
Afterwards she was so muddy we just had to give her a bath . She LOVED it and and stood patiently whilst we tried to get her clean (no mean feat given we couldn't recognise the colour of her coat before we started!!!!).
Beautiful Lola.... and the handsome Ky...... same time, same place, next week???
We are approaching the middle of February. My New Years resolutions have fallen by the wayside and so I've decided to #belikelola. Despite her long stay in kennels, being rehomed and brought back again, through her adversities she has remained a loving and affectionate girl who revels at the simple things of life. So I'm going to take a leaf out of her book.
#belikelola lesson 1.
No matter your size, shape or stature. You are beautiful. Own it!
#belikelola lesson 2.
Inevitably some times you will get wet. jump in the puddles, dance in the rain and swim through the rivers.
#belikelola lesson 3.
The good things in life are usually at the bottom of the toy box. You have to work a little harder and dig a little deeper to get your reward.
#belikelola lesson 4.
Never underestimate the power of a cwtch.
#belikelola lesson 5.
Always smile.
In all seriousness I cannot add any more superlatives or sing Lola's praises even more than what has been said above. She is wonderful in every way possible.
Myself and another Vol had Lola in the garden for a bit the other day. She is such a fun loving girl and loved chasing after squeaky toys and de-stressing a little bit!
To find the perfect toy in the box , you have to get into the box! Also allows for maximum toy squeaking!
Lola is definitely a fan of the new astroturf in the garden and the squeaky ham she chose to play with!
Hoping for more lovely days in the sun to get the big girls out and running around!
Mud can be washed away , but great times live on in memories.
