Please welcome the beautiful Gabriel
Poor Gabriel is in a bit of a poor condition at the moment, he's a bit under weight, seems to have bad skin in a few areas and needs a good wash and groom, but despite this, he definitely had Cheryl and I swooning over him!
Gabriel is probably the most laid back dog I have ever come across, If you wanted to walk he was happy to walk with you, but if you wanted to stand still he was more than happy to just stand there with you too, made it easy to take a few pictures Gabriel was happy for you to fuss him, or not and didn't really seem into much......until he sniffed out the treats!!
Despite being under weight, Gabriel was very polite and extremely gentle with his treats, but what he loved most of all, was when we gave him a stuffed hoof!
It was pretty clear that he had never been given anything like this before, he absolutely loved it!!
Gabriel is a stunning and very gentle chilled out boy, I'm sure he's going to get snapped up pretty quick so get down to CDH pronto if you like the look of him!
Gabriel will be available for rehoming on 4th January, but the staff at the home will take applications now. If you would like more information on him please phone the Dogs' Home: 029 2071 1243 or visit Cardiff Dogs' Home, Westpoint Industrial Estate, Penarth Road, open 7 days a week, 10.30 - 4pm. Mon/Thurs till 6pm

Awful to see him so thin but it won't take long before the rest of him is just as beautiful as his face. xx

Had the pleasure of Gabriel's company today, to start he didn't want to walk, probably do to being cold and wet and this poor lad is in need of gaining some weight. We used little pieces of treats to get him going and after three little pieces, he was well away, Gabriel likes to be on a short leash and close to you, he is scared of fast passing cars but will set off again after passing. This poor lad has been in the wars but I'm sure the friends and CDH staff will make him feel a lot better.

Gabriel's walk with Nicole and family obviously gave him some courage as he was great when I had him out this afternoon. It was the only dry spell of the day so that probably helped too He walks beautifully on the lead, no pulling whatsoever and enjoys a fuss every now and then. Following introductions done by the staff, we stepped out with Staffie girl Missy (K28) and little dwt Binky. Although we kept all dogs at a safe distance from each other, they all behaved impeccably and I think Gabriel enjoyed walking in the company of other dogs. I absolutely loved my walk with Gabriel, he is a handsome, calm, quiet, affectionate, fabulous boy! He was an utter pleasure to spend time with. If you are still there next weekend Gabe, I'll happily spend some more time with you x

I really love this guy. It was our second walk and what a difference, he has gained in confidence already, still a bit startled around lorrys and busses but getting used to everything else. Gabriel is such a gent, doesn't pull at all and walks past dogs fine. He loves a little reassurance and a stroke and will make someone a very lovable dog.

We are thrilled that Gabriel has found his forever sofa! We are sure a few weeks in a new home with his loving family will have him looking a million dollars!

It seems Gabriel isn't able to live with kitties and he has been returned to CDH. Apart from this, he came back with impecable references, so if you missed out on Gabriel the first time around, and have a cat free home, get yourself down there pdq!

Gabriel would be a rare lurcher indeed if he was able to live with a cat! My two rescue lurchers, one from CDH, get very excited if they see a cat, and it takes all my strength to hold them, but the moment soon passes. However, I would never take them to a house with a feline friend. Good luck Gabriel, with patience and support, you'll be a fabulous family member, and make your new owners very happy, just as Pip does for me!! He looks super special and deserves a great home!!

Gabriel agrees with you Sutu! But not all pointies are the same, we have rehomed a few with resident kitties, and they have gotten along famously! I found this lovely bit of video, doesn't it just make you go 'Awwwww'

Today my daughter and I had a lovely walk with Gabriel. This gent is amazing and loves walking beside you. Gabriel is another dog that was in a bad way when he arrived at cdh, and with the help from all at cdh he is filling out and his cuts on his face are going. Gabriel is gentle taking treats, and a perfect gentleman to walk.

Now I think it's right to say something about walkers volunteers who everyday donate their time, patience and love in favor of dogs. I am proud of you, it is also thanks to people like you that I am happy to live here in Cardiff. "The world changes with your example, not your opinion." (P. Coelho). Thank YOU friends.

Lovely Gabriel, my first walk this morning, it was early and cold but Gabriel was very happy to come out with me and have an adventure This dog is so stunning, regal almost, walks lovely on the lead, is nose down a lot of the time ( proper Lurcher! ). He is looking so much better than he did just a few weeks ago, and his confidence has gained as a result of the hard work of the staff and vols. He does have a high pray drive, as I noticed today, as he took a dislike to some birds on out walk! Hope you find you forever, kitty free home very soon Gabriel xx
