Had a bad day? Ease that with a Jack Daniels This handsome boy had a lovely time out for his photoshoot. He had a good ol mooch around the garden and then it was down to the serious business of seeing what makes him tick, and no surprises being a Lab, it was the treats JD does a cracking sit and paw and waits like a true gent for some pate - good lad!! He enjoyed exploring his new surroundings, and no corner of the garden was left unsniffed, not even the tunnel (and yes, he did take his pate in with him ) Jack Daniels will be available for rehoming from 2nd May, but the staff at the home will take applications on him now. If you have any questions on JD or would like more information on him please phone the Dogs' Home: 029 2071 1243 or visit Cardiff Dogs' Home, Westpoint Industrial Estate, Penarth Road, open 7 days a week, 10.30 - 4pm. We walked the lovely JD on Friday for the first time. He was so excited when he came out of his kennel I struggled to hold onto him in the car park but luckily my husband was with me so he took over. JD was still very excitable walking down the lane, barking at a few passing dogs and we had to stop half way as the workmen were chopping down the trees. Anyway, onwards and upwards, off we set up Penarth Rd and by the time we reached Barons Court JD had completely calmed down. He did spot Captain over the road outside Tescos and had a bit of a barking session but then we turned onto the Pont y Werin bridge and I took over the lead. From then on he walked great on the lead, no pulling and walked past a few dogs without batting an eyelid. We took a few pics of him until he started getting bored and made a funny little noise like a baby crying. By the time we got to the Ely River Trail the heavens opened and we had to shelter under the railway bridge. JD waited patiently by our sides. A lady approached with two terriers off lead and we thought we may be in for some trouble but there was no reaction at all from JD - what a good boy! He loved his treats, chicken strips were his favourite. Can't wait to take him out again.

Treated myself to a Jack Daniels today! This dog is so beautiful, I could not stop looking at him! He was very vocal at the start of the walk, but it did not take him long to settle into the walk We had a lovely moment on the bench when he had a cuddle and does a lovely paw for treats Really enjoyed my time with JD today, he is a stunning dog, and is very affectionate, also does the look back and check in on you during the walk, lovely boy, and very, very good looking! I found that, even though he is a strong boy, the combo of his harness and long lead help a great deal with control, and it also allows him to sniff and explore that little bit more Good luck lovely boy, I really can't wait to take you out again, but I do hope you get you forever family very soon too xx.

Absolutely love this boy! My new best friend, he's such a lovely dog, so affectionate and loving, he does bark at other dogs at the start of the walk but he only gave a little bark to Blaze going down the lane today, then gave no reaction at all to a dog on the Ely trail, just a lot of pent up excitement! He loves affection, he loves chin tickles, and will affectionately put his paws around you to say thank you, he is so gentle for such a big boy. I really hope somebody sees what I see in him soon and takes JD home, he's an amazing dog xx.

Jack Daniels is such a handsome boy! Having walked mostly staffies since we started at the Home, it was a little bit of a shock seeing the very long, very slender JD come bounding out towards us. It might just be because I haven't been around labradors for a long time, but I'm certain he's got to have some sort of greyhound/whippet/afghan hound-type in there as well. Either that or he's part giraffe, looking at his neck! He has a lovely temperament and, though he can be a bit pully when he finds something that interests him, he's still new to being in the Home and it's very understandable that he'd be so full of energy when he's out and about. JD loves to have a good sniff around - he spent a good part of the walk with his nose glued to the ground, zigzagging when he found a good scent. He was a little barky when we passed other dogs, though his tail was wagging throughout and it was obvious he just wanted to say hello and have a play. Despite being quite a trek-happy dog, JD was still content with pausing for some breaks along the way, having a good fuss and some cuddles. He showed off a very nice sit and paw for us, in exchange for a treat, which he took very gently. A beautiful and brilliant dog - here's hoping he won't be waiting long for a new home!

Again, another lovely long walk with my man, JD As always, he was as good as gold, only a few barks at dogs, mainly ones that reacted first, and it's also the first time I have taken him out on my slip lead, and he was fab! Hardly any pulling at all, I find this lovely boy to be a fab walk, he is a strong boy, but he is very good on the lead once you start walking. We went a bit ' off the beaten track ' and went down a woodland path I have always wanted to explore just before you get to the graffiti bridge on the Ely trail, and JD loved having a sniff and even a dig when he smelt what I think were Rabbits! At the end of the path was the back of the shops along Penarth road and a huge pile of rubble, so we back the way we came, smelling the same smells When we go back, the sand pit was in the car park full of water ( possibly rain water from the other day? ) and JD had a little paddle in it! This dog is stunning to look at, he's sooooo good looking, and he has the charms to go with it! Go on, get some Jack Daniels in your life! ( Please drink responsibly ) xx

Took JD out this morning - he is so handsome!! I think I will nickname him Mr Zigzag as he zigged zagged backwards and forwards across the path wanting to smell absolutely everything. He is strong and energetic, does a lovely sit, offers his paws and takes treats gently. About half the dogs we met along the way, he barked at, a couple quite a lot, but some he took no notice of at all. Didn't seem at all bothered by people, bicycles or traffic noise. Looking forward to walking with him again - unless he gets rehomed first of course!

The very handsome JD won over lots of people during his short spell at CDH, so it'll be no surprise to hear that right now, he will be comfy in his new forever home
