Let's give a warm welcome to the very pretty Ruby! Ruby was like a little bottle of pop when I went to get her from her kennel, and the first thing she did was greet me like an old friend. Sadly, Ruby has found herself at CDH after being brought in as a stray, so we don't know much about her. What I can tell you is that this girl is an absolute sweetheart, and all she wants to do is snuggle into her human friends. I can see her becoming a fast favourite with some of our volunteers! If you've seen Ruby in her kennel, it's obvious that she is one of the friendliest dogs when she has visitors. All she wants is to do is say hello. Ruby is a sweet and inquisitive dog, and was just so excited to be around people that she couldn't quite take the smile off her face Ruby's release date was the 10/05/2016, so staff are now taking applications on her. If you would like more information on her please phone the Dogs' Home: 029 2071 1243 or visit Cardiff Dogs' Home, Westpoint Industrial Estate, Penarth Road, open 7 days a week, 10.30 - 4pm. Mon/Thurs till 6pm For more information about the rehoming process at Cardiff Dogs Home, please click on the link below: friendsofcardiffdogs.proboards.com/thread/5880/guide-adoption-procedures

Ruby, Ruby, Ruby, Ruby - aaaahhhh! Sorry, had a Kaiser Chiefs moment there .... We took Ruby out for a walk on Thursday, she was as good as gold, walked lovely on the lead. This girl was just so happy to be out and about... She was no trouble at all, not bothered by other dogs, traffic etc. She just seemed grateful for all the attention.. Good luck Ruby with finding your forever home.

I had the pleasure of meeting this beauty yesterday. She's recovering very well from her spay. Really friendly girl. Loved her walk and was brilliant on the lead. I can tell she also loves her fuss, she was adamant she was going to give me kisses! Saw plenty of other dogs whilst walking and showed no aggression, no barking just keen to greet I think. She's going to make someone very happy!

I had the pleasure of taking Ruby for a walk today - she was so good, only ever pulling slightly on the lead. She did a great sit for treats, took them gently & enjoyed a long cuddle - and so did I! I think that she is slightly nervous of other dogs as they approach but she didn't bark at all and responded well to some reassurance. Ruby is a really sweet dog & will make a lovely addition to someone's home.

I'm so in love with this gorgeous girl. I hope she'll be available still by the time I move out my parent's home, because I'd love to give her a forever home! <3

I was very lucky to have the pleasure of Ruby's company this morning! She is such a sweet young lady, a real looker with the manners to boot. There was no hesitation at all from Ruby when she was handed over and she gave us her warmest smile as we trotted down the lane. Once away from the Dogs Home, we stopped to have a little fuss so she could get to know the strangers at the end of her lead. Ruby was very polite and soft but it became clear she doesn't "do" formal introductions! Instead, she leaps in for welcoming cuddles and a good belly rub - this girl loves affection! She's a strong dog (in beautiful condition!) and was quite excited about getting to Grangemoore Park. For the most part, she strutted proudly out in front and there was some pulling which was to be expected. She passed other dogs with ease, we just firmly kept her close (as she wanted to say hi) and moved her on with no trouble at all. It's clear she's a really sociable dog, she responds well to your voice and seemed to enjoy our compliments. It wasn't just us either, she was pleasant with other walkers stopped to ask about her and compliment her looks. Until next time Ruby! You're a real gem - I'm sure you'll find your forever home soon.

I took Ruby out for a walk this evening, she came out of the kennels all excited and was very comfortable in my company and enjoyed a good fuss. However as we were walking she crossed in front of my path and I clipped the back of her leg with my foot She let out a yelp and spun around and cowered from me. I said sorry more times that I can remember. It completely destroyed all confidence she had with me and she was reluctant to walk with me and allow me to stroke her. I took her back to the home and had one of the staff walk with us a little. She was her usual self with the staff member and would take treats from me but that was about it. The staff member left us and we carried walking for a while but she was never the same with me. I hope she forgets what happened and she'll be her usual self next time I walk her. I'm so sorry Ruby

Ruby dooby do where are you? I'll tell you where you are good girl on the top of my most improved dog list . Why I hear you ask? Read on folks. I'd just brought old frosty chops back(Vince) when I met up with the chief....oops sorry auntie sooz so I said is anyone needing a walk but I've got our Elsie. Sooz.."how about Ruby" Me "well she was a little bit excited last time " Sooz "let's give it a go shall we". Let's just say Elsie is in the same bag as Baz they are team players, so off we trot up the lane. Ruby is inquisitive and excited but not aggressive and their is a big difference in that folks,so let's just say after a quick calm down young un off Elsie by the end of the lane I had the two gorgeous girls and away we went (sorry chief your gorgeous too). Ruby is keen to make friends and quite vocal but that is is it,she wants to make friends,so pilgrims give her a chance because once she gets confidence and learns more manners she is going to be a cracker. She walked beautifully with Elsie today and the early youthful exuberance turned into a calm lovely dog who was happy with the older company. In some respects she's like Chilli and Red the more you chip away the more beautiful she becomes. We've got something to work on now Ruby doo so let's see where next week takes us. Stay beautiful xx Cue picture of R and E in perfect harmony "Keep it up young un you're doing just fine"
