Everyone say a big hello to the lovely Storm! Storm arrived at CDH last week, and he was a little bit nervous about coming out of his kennel. His eyesight isn't all that great, and he wasn't all that sure of his surroundings. We took him outside for a bit of peace and quiet and he soon seemed to realise he was in safe hands. Storm is a gentle and obedient boy, and he's getting used to life in his kennel. This weekend, he welcomed me with a tail wag and a big Husky smile, so it's safe to say he's a bit happier! Storm is more than happy to sit and give his best paw and smile for treats, and as a bonus he's incredibly gentle with human hands. Storm didn't arrive in the best condition, and needed a bit of a groom to say the least. While out for his photos, the staff gently pulled huge lumps of fur from him, and by the time they were done he seemed much more comfortable. Poor boy, he must have been boiling under all that extra fluff! The staff at the home will take applications now. If you would like more information on him please phone the Dogs' Home: 029 2071 1243 or visit Cardiff Dogs' Home, Westpoint Industrial Estate, Penarth Road, open 7 days a week, 10.30 - 4pm. I arrived at CDH on Friday morning, pretty early, happy to walk anyone, the guys in the office asked if I would take out Storm, as it was still cool and he doesn't do well in the current hot weather. My pleasure .. He came out in his newly trimmed fur coat, looks a picture now, a very striking animal. And off we went, he pulled a little at first, it is what they do after all !! But soon settled to a pleasant pace. He is obviously new to the home and whilst friendly didn't seem to want to much petting, at first. We quickly made it into the park and trucked along chatting away enjoying the day.... I have been called clumsy by friends, (you should hear what my enemies call me) and I proved it by stepping off the Tarmac path straight into a hole, .... Over I went .. Flat on my back, as a well trained walker I of course kept hold of the lead, but Storm took the flailing idiot well in his stride, came over as I lay on the floor and gave me a lick of concern .... Then seeing only my pride was hurt... I swear he was laughing at me. Bit of a twisted ankle but on we hobbled and Storm walked by my side the rest of the way He is a powerful guy but, it's all controlled, no problem with other dogs, enjoyed walking and he is a head turner. I see the intro says that maybe his eyesight isn't great, well I didn't notice any problems for him, and it seems it's better than mine Fab dog!

Took this very handsome man out on Sunday morning I knew he was a good looking boy from his pictures but he took my breath away when he came bounding out of kennels, all happy and making some lovely Husky noises! He is a big boy, and apart from a little hop and a few more happy Husky noises, he walked at a gentle pace with almost zero pulling. Walking passed other dogs, he did did take a glance and and did sometimes stop to look back, but I didn't spot any aggression when walking passed them. We walked down to Grangemoor, and I spotted a Female Husky, off lead. The owner quickly noticed we where from the home and put her dog on the lead, but the most funny thing was the female Husky started howling when she spotted Storm, then Storm quickly joined in! It was so funny to watch! Storm does seem all about the walk for a little a while at first, but after a stop at the bench and some treets for a sit and paw, he was quite happy to nuzzle up into me and have a cuddle After that he did the ' Look back and check in ' when we started walking back, like he knew I was his friend. I really enjoyed my time with Storm, he is like a big bear and you won't be able to walk passed this lovely boy without saying hello, he's a real head turner! It was quite funny though that I came back to the home looking like a Husky after our cuddle! Really look forward to our next walk Storm, but I sure won't be offended if you get your forever home before that happens lovely Storm xx

I took Storm out first thing this morning for a good hour of walking. He was quite happy to be out of the kennel and did a little hop of excitement. He is an absolutely beautiful dog! He was all about the walk, didn't really pull on the lead but was eager to explore and mark his territory. We walked up along the Ely river for a while passing a man with his little dog twice. On the first pass, Storm was quite eager to meet this dog and pulled a little and let out a low bark but was not aggressive. With gentle vocal encouragement he carried on walking with me. On the second pass, I was a little more prepared and encouraged him earlier to keep walking and he did so with barely a glance at the other dog. I sat with Storm for a few minutes by the river, he was not particularly bothered about being fussed (he didn't like the treats I had either) but we're just getting to know each other and looking forward to walking him again.

I had the pleasure of walking this lovely chap again this morning. He came out of the kennels with a hop and a skip and greeted me with a couple of excited whines as if to say "lets get going then." Storm was as eager as ever to get going and pulled on the lead a little but manageable. I took him a different route today and we turned right soon after the Pumping Station. Storm loved all the smells and marked it as his territory accordingly. There's some benches a little further up just by the river, so I took the opportunity to have a sit and attempt to give him a treat...he didn't like these ones either and I didn't keep any of the liver cake on me that I gave to the staff at the home. After a couple of minutes he gave a little yank on the lead and a whine as if to say "come on, you're here to walk not sit" So we walked further down the lane passing a few other volunteers with their dogs, Storm got a little excited but moved on with vocal encouragement. All in all, we had a lovely hours walk!

What can I say about this fella, what a gentle beauty. Storm was keen to be out of his kennel and we powered off down the lane from CDH. His manners are devine and he is gentle when he take treats and drinks. He is a bit of a slow burner when it comes to affection but am sure with more walks he will come around. He is quite happy to have to odd ear rub when you take a break. This was my 1st husky experience and will ben keen to take him again if he's not been snapped up 💞💞

Storm is about 10 years old, and is an absolutely gent. There are no child age restrictions on him, but the staff would prefer to rehome him to a northern breed experienced home if possible, and if there are children in the family they would need to be dog savvy, which is the case with most dogs, but in particular older dogs, as a lot of older dogs like a peaceful life. Well, a lot of older people want a peaceful life too

Storm went down a storm with the lovely young family he met recently - it was love at first sight! We were all a little bit tearful, but totally thrilled to see him leave the building this week! Have a long and happy retirement with your new family Storm
