I thought I'd take advantage of the water break and lack of muzzle to show off his handsome little face. And I'm okay! A sore ankle but it happens more often than it should for me, so I know how to treat it. Hopefully I'll be back to see him soon enough, if his new family hasn't snapped him up! True little gent, he is!

Couldn't resist taking the handsome Cooper out again this morning. He was, as before, a perfect gentleman - and I didn't fall over once this time! He can pull a little on his walks but is easily controlled or stopped, and is mostly just trying to get the most of his walks while he's out. Cooper doesn't seem as happy to be around the busy traffic, but as soon as you get somewhere a little quieter his tail starts wagging (constantly!) and his ears perk up. He loves to say hello to everyone who passes and shows some interest in other dogs, but is easy enough to distract or move along. We stopped again at the benches for some water and treats, making sure to keep an eye out for any approaching dogs while Cooper's muzzle was off. The minute we sat down he sat at our feet and held his head up, ready to have his muzzle taken off. He really doesn't enjoy having it on and relaxes so much once it's off, he'll cuddle right up and is getting much better at taking his treats gently. When it was time for the muzzle to go back on he didn't make a fuss at all! Cooper is such a wonderful little man - very loving, gentle, and patient - and I hope it's not too long before he's got a sofa of his very own where he can get all the cwtches he deserves!

Staffies are human oriented and very tactile, so in typical Staffie style, Cooper was more than happy to provide yours truly with a delightful show of affection and friendliness when we were out on a walk recently. We had a few pit stops along the way, and every time I sat down, Cooper would plant himself squarely in front of me and gently lean into my legs. And even with the difficulty that his muzzle posed, he still tried to offer me loving licks, bless him. Some dogs at the Home prefer to keep going and not stop for a water break (understandably), but cuddly Cooper just wanted to remain close to me until we continued on our way again. Cooper was also responsive to my vocal directions: he waited patiently at the kerbside until I let him know that we were good to go; and with encouragement, trotted past other dogs without any fuss too! Good lad! It seems that all the lovely walks he's been enjoying with the volunteer walkers is definitely having a positive effect on the way he behaves towards his canine counterparts - and hopefully he's a step closer to being muzzle-free in the near future. Considering how stressful it must be for him to live in a kennel environment, Cooper looks the picture of health! His glossy black coat with sprinkles of rich copper hues glowed in the autumnal sunshine. But it's only the love and care of a forever family to call his own that would restore the real sparkle in his eyes... It's so sad that a second chance of a happy and secure life with a new, permanent family hasn't been forthcoming for Cooper yet. My fingers are tightly crossed that such a time will come very soon for this handsome, loving, and loyal boy.

Cooper! What can I say about this lovely boy! When he came out he was raring to go, sniff here , sniff there but he was all about the cuddles, trotting over everytime scratches were on offer! Cooper does like to walk at a slightly faster pace but once you slow down he is more than happy to plod along next to you! As you may know Cooper does wear a muzzle. We came across a few dogs on our walk and none of them seemed to bother him. The only reaction I saw was when a big old English sheep dog ran up behind us, off lead, and Cooper didn't react aggresively at all, the dog must've just made him jump and Cooper seemed quite anxious that the dog was behind him so he couldn't see him (very understandable!) the only reaction Cooper had was to keep looking to see where the other dog was, there was no aggresion whatsoever. Once we had led him away he had completely forgotten about the other dog and was more interested in a kite he had spotted and really wasn't sure what to make of it! Cooper is quite the character, I was concerned that he would have a bit of trouble drinking because of the muzzle but that didn't stop him! He 'woofed' the water down, then decided to knock the bowl and bottle over by accident, cheeky chappy! He wouldn't let the muzzle stop him from getting treats either, he was more than happy to sit still and concentrate while we put the treat through the muzzle to his mouth! I enjoyed lots of cuddles from this lovely boy, he really is a massive softie. Everytime you sit down, there he is sat on your toes! I can't sing Coopers praises enough. He would make an amazing companion. He needs his forever sofa, please don't let the muzzle put you off!

One thing I have learnt this weekend is to NEVER judge a dog by his muzzle! Cooper really is a happy, lovable boy and a real pleasure to walk. He did pull a little at first but once we had made it through the industrial estate, he walked at a lovely pace. It was not until we stopped for refreshments at Starbucks that I saw the true Cooper. He saw the cup of water and knew exactly what time it was! He buried his head in my lap, begging me to take his muzzle off. As soon as the muzzle came off, he was a completely different dog, so happy and affectionate. I managed to get a few pictures: Cooper wears his muzzle so that he and other dogs are safe, and knowing that, definitely makes it all worth while. Seeing him with his muzzle off for just five minutes was definitely worth an hours' walk! Although he definitely prefers his time without the muzzle, Cooper did not seem to mind at all when we put it back on him. Cooper really is a handsome, lovely boy with and without his muzzle and he definitely deserves a new home! I definitely won't hesitate to walk him again (hopefully he will be rehomed soon though so I don't have to!)

We took the fabulous Cooper out this morning. We haven't walked him before, but he came out of kennels friendly and wagging. We went off to Grangemoor, it was busy and we passed a number of people and dogs. Cooper didn't give the slightest reaction despite some of them being quite vocal, well done boy! We had a lovely walk on the hill, it was quite breezy and Cooper did try and pick up the pace a bit, but he obliged immediately when we asked him to slow down! We stopped a few times for cuddles, and he enjoyed leaning himself into us while we stroked his lovely soft fur - he has ears like velvet and the most gorgeous eyes. Good luck Cooper hope your forever family finds you soon lovely boy xx

Coop dog is a very special boy....he's a hero and all round good guy. Yes the poor lad wears a muzzle but today I got to look and see beyond the muzzle here goes. First off was a trip to Llandaff fields. Yep he loves the car good boy coops. Llandaff fields he was absolutely brilliant a couple of off lead dogs came up to him and he was cool as custard no aggression and the owners of the off lead dogs were apologetic and nice. Now I know coops gets some down the nose looks off people when his muzzles on but when I explained why he wears it the whole attitude changed,it's amazing what a bit of background knowledge can do. Hopefully we can break the stigma for this beautiful boy. "Oh boy oh boy oh boy" "Come on Pete let's go" He's now at hotel du dogs for the night and he's an absolute star. Very clean well behaved and really loving,to think some lucky people could have this 24-7. Zoomies time "Aaahh there you are" "Food..,...where are you" "Footy please Pete" "Let people see how lovely I am behind the muzzle" Coops is absolutely lovely he's comfortable in his own skin,so he wears a muzzle big deal the coops I've got with me tonight is a loving well rounded attentive boy. If you've always thought he's a lovely boy but.. Look beyond that he's bloody fab he's been a pleasure and I hope that people will read this and see just what a lovely boy he is. Cooper you are a superhero and you really deserve a fab home. People look beyond the muzzle go and meet coops. Love you coop dog x

Lovely to see Cooper in a home environment. Great photos, his coat is so shinny in the sun. I love walking Cooper when I'm at CDH on the weekends but he certainly been there far too long, come on people there must be someone looking for a friendly loving staffie to make their family complete. Bx

Looks like Coop has taken to home life like a duck to water - it's wonderful to see him so chilled in your doggy hotel Pete! His happiness, especially in the last pic shines through clearly both on his adorable face and in his relaxed Staffie side-saddle pose!

Not only is he absolutely brilliant as rotterdam82 has said, but super Cooper is also quite literally a lifesaver of course: a fearless Home hero who helped save the day a couple of months ago, when he calmly and silently donated his blood to a fellow CDH resident in desperate need of an immediate transfusion. Coops - you're a blimming legend!

Today I met Cooper and enjoyed some off lead fun without the muzzle. Cooper doesn't enjoy wearing his muzzle. That is not surprising really. As soon as I took it off, he couldn't wait to rub his face across the grass. Then he was zooming up and around the garden, in and out of the tunnel. So fast I couldn't get any pics of the fun. Then he would stop for some fuss. Arrr that's the spot, don't stop Miss. Cooper loves to get real close for cwtches. Then off to zoom again. Cooper would love nothing more than finding his forever home. He comes with glowing references from fellow walker Pete who had Cooper over night. What's not to love about Cooper.
