Oh my days!!! This handsome face belongs to Eddie Eddie came out for his pics with us and enjoyed a mooch around the garden. He took plenty of time getting to know his new surroundings and checking out which of his neighbours had been in before him "Hmmmm, I believe that may be Lola" Eddie wasnt particularly interested in treats or toys, but it was his first time in the garden and it was a scent-sation for him when we came out of the garden, Nicole and her family were in the yard and Eddie made a beeline for her young girls. He loved getting a fuss from him and he wagged his tail like he hadnt done with us adults! I think this big lad is going to be a favourite amongst our Purple Pilgrims!! Eddie will be available for rehoming from 28th July, but the staff at the home will take applications on him now. If you have any questions on Eddie or would like more information on him please phone the Dogs' Home: 029 2071 1243 or visit Cardiff Dogs' Home, Westpoint Industrial Estate, Penarth Road, open 7 days a week, 10.30 - 4pm. Well my daughter and I were lucky enough to spend some time out walking with Eddie today and what a delight he is! I am always a fan of bigger breeds, so jumped at the chance to take this fella out when I saw his name on the list. And he certainly didn't disappoint in the size stakes, trotting out of the kennels he is an impressive sight, well proportioned with muscular shoulders and a handsome face.... Lovely! So off we trekked, surprisingly for such a big lad he didn't surge away, he snuffled down the lane checking out all the bushes, and christened quite a few too! Then off we went, he set a good pace and we headed off toward the barrage. He liked to keep ahead when walking but was happy with a tight but not stretched lead. Have to say he doesn't appear comfortable when heavy vehicles come past, but apart from a 'flinch' he carried on. Once away from traffic he visably relaxed and started to enjoy his walk. He doesn't give his affection immediately, as some dogs do, but the longer we spent with him the more 'open' he became, and it was a great delight when while sitting at a bench, after a good drink he stood alongside us happily enjoying a good fuss watching with interest all the busy comings and goings on the top of the barrage. He passed other dogs with interest but no pulling or vocalisation. He likes people and was a delight to walk. He is a big guy and it was a warm day, so despite lots of drinks he was slowing down on the walk back and it's a nice feeling having a big animal walk steadily at your side. Back at CDH he was greeted warmly by all the staff, he is obviously a popular character here and it's so, so easy to understand why. Here is a gentle giant, a bit of a quiet man, I think he is fantastic...!

Wow.I agree with everything said in the previous post. He is really interested in his surroundings, pulled some when he wanted to go a different way, but soon came around. A couple of barks when he saw another resident but wasnt too bothered. A little non chalant at the beginning of the walk but towards the end he would lean into me, and enjoyed tickles behind the ears. My girl was exactly like this the first time I walked her at the home. She is now very affectionate. He is a handsome boy, waiting for the right family to love him. When they do, he'll return it in spades!
