Please whisper a gentle welcome to Bailey If Bailey looks a little bewildered, it's not surprising. He arrived very unceremoniously at Cardiff Dogs Home. He was thrown out of a car - which then sped off - just outside the Dogs Home... As soon as we brought him out for his pictures, we noticed he was very lame on his front paw. Bailey's ankle is swollen, it looks like maybe he has broken his foot, so maybe the people who dumped him had to make a tough decision... should they take him to the vets, or should they keep the money and put it towards a newer Mercedes? We complete understand that sometimes owners are in a crisis situation themselves, and may feel they have no option but to abandon their dog, but the evidence doesn't really support this theory in Bailey's case We think you had a lucky escape Bailey boy! We're going to find you a loving home sweetheart, and in the meantime you'll receive the very best of veterinary care, gentle walks, and all the love your little heart can take! No zoomies for Bailey, just a gentle potter around the garden, and a good ol' sniff around to see who lives in a house like this! I smell dogs!!!! Bailey wasn't massively interested in treats, but took them anyway, just to be polite.... He has such a soft, gentle mouth, it was like being kissed by kittens.... We're pretty sure Bailey's owners won't be coming back for him, so he will be available for rehoming from 20th August. For more information, or if you'd like to meet Bailey, please phone the Dogs' Home: 029 2071 1243 or visit Cardiff Dogs' Home, Westpoint Industrial Estate, Penarth Road, open 7 days a week, 10.30 - 4pm. After taking Nala & Cooper out this morning I had enough time for a short walk and a member of staff suggested Bailey as he's currently restricted to 15 minutes at a time. What a beautiful young lad, nervous (not surprising after reading how he arrived at CDH) and hesitant but with patience and a few treats he walked a little way slowly down the lane & around the back of the home. As we returned to the home a little girl (after asking if it was okay) came over to say hello to Bailey. He loved her gentle hand on his back and appeared to relax him a little more. Hopefully Bailey will grow in confidence and be snapped up by a lucky new family soon. Bx

It's always heartbreaking seeing a dog so timid and afraid to even just go for a walk. We had a little time spare after walking Nala so decided to take Bailey for a very quick but gentle stroll. He's only allowed 15 minute walks at a time because of his leg, enough time to get to the grassy patch on the estate and back, but we only managed to get him to the little overgrown path before he refused to go any further. He is hesitant to leave the Home and staff, freezing on the spot occasionally, but we managed to get him a little exercise. It's important not to pull on the lead so a lot of gentle encouragement is needed. He was comfortable enough then to keep going, though unfortunately a work truck rattling past us down the lane scared him quite a bit. Bailey seemed more comfortable with me holding the lead, and kept glancing at Dad and sniffing his hand as we walked, though I'm not sure he was 100% with me either. We offered him a few treats, which he took so gently, and helped him warm to us a little. With a little time to get to know you, I've no doubt Bailey would happily give back tenfold the love he's shown. As with so many of the dogs at the Home who've had a poor start in life, all Bailey needs is love, patience, and tlc. Fingers crossed the right family comes along for him soon!

I took stunning Bailey out yesterday. He is rather sad and scared at the moment and froze before even getting out of the door. Luckily his Aunty Susie was there who helped him along and carried him gently outside. We walked him with Tom (K14) and they were great walking buddies. At one point he got quite excited and it was a joy to see. This boy needs an understanding gentle home, and he will blossom into an absolute gem.
Good luck Bailey.
