Please whisper a very gentle welcome to Skye
If she looks sad, it's because she is. Skye was signed over to the Home by her owner, and is still finding it all a bit much to cope with. Poor girl
Apparently she wasn't getting along with another dog in the household, we don't have any more information than that, but she still bears a few scars, lumps and bumps that look like old bite marks, especially around her neck. Skye is only 10 months old, we can't imagine what happened to make her so scared.
We had to use mega zoom for this pic, as Skye wanted to keep her distance.....
She pretty much kept her own counsel, even in the garden. She had a few sniffs, but we didn't see Skye's inner puppy at all. She wasn't interested in the least in the toys, we're not even sure she knew what they were...
Skye doesn't seem to be particularly foodie, but the smell of treats eventually got the better of her...
She inched forward, and gently took the morsels from our fingers....
We have seen so many sad and unhappy dogs transform under the tender care of the staff and volunteer Pilgrims at CDH. Hopefully Skye will get into the routine of kennel life, plenty of good food, fabulous walks, and non-threatening encounters with friendly dogs... and she will put her past behind her.
After just ten minutes she asked, in the only way she could, if she could leave the garden. The last time she saw her owner was in the yard, maybe she thought they would still be waiting there for her...
As Skye has been signed over, she is available for rehoming immediately. If you would like more information, or would like to meet her, please phone the Dogs' Home: 029 2071 1243 or visit Cardiff Dogs' Home, Westpoint Industrial Estate, Penarth Road, open 7 days a week, 10.30 - 4pm.
