Howdee Friends! My name is Jasper!I am a dog. I don't know who my mamma was, I never met my dad, I am just a dog!I lived with a family all my life, and one of the little people jumped on me, and hurt me, and I was like 'Heeeeeeeey!!!!!!!! Don't do that! I didn't hurt the little person, I just told the grown ups I didn't like it, but I wasn't supposed to say anything, and that's why I ended up here. I didn't mean no harm Miss Cheryl, honestly I didn't! Am I in trouble? No Jasper, you're not in trouble, you're in a safe place. We'll find you a nice home! OK Jasper, tell us about yourself! I am 8 years old, and I like doing dog things! I like toys! And I know what 'sit' means! And I know how to look 'imploring'! That usually works for me! As Jasper came to Cardiff Dogs Home via a rescue in England, he doesn't have to wait seven days to be rehomed, and the staff will take applications on him immediately. If you want playthings for your children, buy them toys. If you have room in your heart and your home for a dog, come and meet Jasper. He is an amazing, wise, patient, and loving boy, who doesn't deserve to be homeless. If you would like more information, or would like to meet Jasper, please phone the Dogs' Home: 029 2071 1243 or visit Cardiff Dogs' Home, Westpoint Industrial Estate, Penarth Road, open 7 days a week, 10.30 - 4pm. We took this lovely boy for a walk today. He was sooooo excited to be out and about - his tail didnt stop wagging!
He seemed very loving and friendly. His walked beautifully on his lead and was impeccibly behaved with the children (ages 9, 7 and 4 years). Further into the walk they gave him lots of attention which he really enjoyed.
He can shout at other dogs when you walk past (with lots of tail wagging) but holding him close with lots of talking reduced this considerably.
He had a treat of roast chicken - he was very gentle taking this from the children. He also a nice 'sit'!
I hope he finds a nice home soon as he was such a nice dog.

Ahh the fabulous Jasper, ..........Dog. I love that because if you really want a friend and companion what difference does breeding make? Sorry if I have started a little 'deep' but on signing this guy out we had a good discussion with the staff in the centre, not specifically about Jasper, but more along the lines of.... ...' Ten years ago most of the occupants here would of been similar to Jasper, in that they were a real mixed bag, a Heinz 57 varieties, all mixed into one lucky bag of a dog, now though most are recognisable breeds, with many likely to have cost significant amounts of money as puppies.... yet still they come? '.... What a sad indictment of our society that people can throw away an animal as easily as last years mobile phone. Shameful Anyway, that bears no reflection on Jasper, who deffinatley has a bit of lurcher in him, it's just well disguised . He is a good size, with long striding legs that set a good pace. A little aloof a first, Jasper just wanted to stretch himself out and explore. He is obviously capeable of a good walk and I needed one after a week in work so we set off round the bay, across the barrage and back across the long road bridge. That's a six mile hike and with a couple of rest / drink stops thrown in we had plenty of time to get to know him. As we walked he relaxed and became much more affectionate, and demonstrative. He enjoys a drink, takes a treat very gently, has an excellent sit. Lovely eyes and a winning personality..... what's not to like? Others have said he is likely to say hello to other dogs, but with us it was only larger types passing bye, small dogs he just ignored! He likes people and is all in all pretty easy walk So, Jasper, A Dog, But what a good one!

We walked Jasper yesterday afternoon. It was a damp, drizzly day but Jasper's spirits certainly weren't dampened as he came trotting out to us for his walk. He is a lovely looking dog, what I would call a "proper" dog, his fur is lovely and soft and thick and warm. He seemed a little bit nervous of us initially but soon relaxed and he walked along really nicely on the lead. No pulling, except for when we passed other dogs. We passed about 4 other dogs during our walk, they were all medium to large sized and Jasper was quite vocal and pulled on the lead but I'm not sure whether he was nervous of them or if he just wanted to say hello. He will walk at your pace but if you start to run with him he really enjoys it and was bouncing around like a spring lamb. One word of warning, after Jasper has done his No 2s, he will kick his feet for a couple of minutes in whatever surface he is standing on and creates quite a shower of leaves, muck, dust, etc. My husband almost got pebbledashed when standing behind him when this happened on the path leading to Grangemoor Park - gave us a laugh anyway. Best to stand in front of him, not behind him! We stopped briefly in Grangemoor Park and Jasper did a lovely "sit" and took some treats very gently, but he didn't seem to chew them, just gobbled them down in one go so it may be a good idea to break his treats up into smaller pieces before giving them to him. He was perfectly happy to return to his kennel after our walk. Hope this lovely boy finds his forever home soon. I can just imagine him curled up in front of someone's fireplace like a big sheepskin rug.

Just a quick update on Jasper Dog.....he settled in to our house immediately! He's really well trained, quiet, clean, with great manners.
He's still a little reactive to dogs but this is getting better and he's made some new friends already. He gives the best hugs you could ask for and loves a rugby ball!
We wouldn't be without him now.
