Please welcome the beautiful, voluptuous, gorgeousness that is Blue Blue was found by the wardens, and although she is chipped (no, we wouldn't have chosen that name for such a fabulous girl) the staff have been unable to trace her owners. She is, it has to be said, a tiny bit overweight.. Who me?Seriously Aunty Sooz, does my bum look big in this?errrr, well, um...... Miss Cheryl - Aunty Sooz says I need to lose weight Blue certainly needs to drop a few kilo's, and the staff will have her on a strict diet - so walkers, no treats please! Blue will feel so much more comfortable when she's not carrying so much weight, and hopefully she's going to look and feel a whole lot better in no time! She can still break into a gentle trot... But she does find even gentle exertion tiring, so it was away to the summerhouse for a bit of R&R! Fat? Take that aunty Sooz!Blue is a very gentle and sweet girl, no treats needed to persuade her into a sit... And she makes friends very easily... But it was a little cold in the garden this afternoon, and she was tired after her little outing in the garden. Have you finished taking pictures yet? Can I go back to my bed now?If you'd like to meet Blue, or want more information, please phone the Dogs' Home: 029 2071 1243 or visit Cardiff Dogs' Home, Westpoint Industrial Estate, Penarth Road, open 7 days a week, 10.30 - 4pm. Miss Blue! You utterly scrumptious lady! We were lucky enough to take this gorgeous girl out yesterday morning and she is just wonderful. She is a bit on the large size, yes, but I'm sure with regular walks and a careful diet she'll be back to a more suitable and svelte figure soon enough. Blue has the most delightful personality and is incredibly expressive. She was excited to be out and about but barely pulled on the lead, especially once we were down the lane, and was very responsive to her name and basic vocal commands. We passed other dogs without any issue - Blue was far more interested in potential new people friends and the odd bird noise in the trees. She's quite happy to keep walking but did show signs of getting a little tired, so we made sure to stop every so often so she could get her breath back. I do recommend bringing plenty of water with you, as even in the cold weather she gulped it down by the handful - we unfortunately forgot our bowl and didn't realise until we were walking, but she was happy enough to lap it up from our hands instead - and at one point started licking the frosted bench before we could get the bottle out! She's happy to sit and give paw, even without any treats on offer (much as she tried to tempt us with those gorgeous big eyes!), and is so so gentle with her kisses. I could sing beautiful Blue's praises for many more paragraphs, but I'd definitely recommend meeting her in person instead!

It was absolutely freezing this morning but we still had enough movement left in us for one more walk, and we couldn't resist taking this gorgeous girl out again. She is such a delight and is guaranteed to put a smile on your face. She insisted on saying hello to the other walkers waiting inside before trotting out to greet us. This lady just loves people! Her face lights up and her whole body seems to wag when she spots a potential new friend. On our way back to the Home through the estate she noticed two workers heading for an open van and would not budge until they gave her a quick fuss each! Blue walks so wonderfully. She barely pulls on the lead and most of the time she's almost at heel - though I think she's happiest just in front of her walkers. Other dogs catch her interest but she doesn't bark and doesn't try to pull you over to see them. She's incredibly attentive to commands and even slows down when you do, especially by roads. Blue knows her green cross code! When Dad went to throw the poo bag in the bin, Blue seemed almost concerned that we weren't following him and was very happy when he came back. Even when I walked ahead to take some photos of her as she approached, Blue seemed so thrilled to be getting closer and have both her walkers back with her. Despite having only known us for maybe two hours over two days, Blue seems intent on treating everyone as a lifelong friend. She's very gentle with her kisses as well and just gives one delicate lick at a time. Despite resisting those beautiful eyes again and not giving her any treats, she was still happy to show off her sit and paw skills for us. Blue seems to enjoy a good view and each time we stopped at the benches for water and a cuddle, she'd automatically (and fairly gracefully, if cautiously) hop onto the top! We also noticed that she seems quite interested in little birds - it was wonderful seeing her forehead wrinkle as she focused intently on them. We're not sure of her age but there are a lot of moments where Blue's inner puppy shines, so I imagine without the extra weight holding her back she'd be quite a playful and bouncy lady, but still gentle and responsive. I can't praise her enough! I'd definitely take her home in an instant if I could!

Apologies for the late pupdate!! I met Blue last week and she was wonderful. She is definitely ready for the cold weather her 'winter body' but I am sure she will get her bikini bod in time for Summer with the help of all of us walkers! Blue was really well behaved on our walk, she didn't pull at all. Blue didn't worry about any other dogs - overall, she was a pleasure to walk! She doesn't seem bothered about being fussed but to be honest, she just wanted to explore and keep walking - something tells me that she's not used to walks and their wonders... A very soft, gentle girl, I am looking forward to seeing Blue blossom

We met Blue last week whilst walking down the lane with another dog and she was so lovely we decided to take her out for a walk yesterday. Suffice to say that Blue is not exactly a skinny minny in fact she probably weighs around the same weight as me. Luckily she doesn't pull on the lead at all so we didn't have a problem. She walked really nicely on the lead, even when passing other dogs. If you pick up the pace a bit she trots alongside you. She is a really friendly dog, she wanted to stop and say hello to everyone we passed in the lane and also was very interested in some workmen on the trading estate. Her tail was wagging constantly. We stopped on the benches in Grangemoor Park to give her a little rest and straightaway she jumped up onto the bench and then up onto the table where she enjoyed a nice scratch and did a great "sit" and also gave a paw. Sadly we couldn't give her any treats as she is on a diet. No pain, no gain, eh Blue? She is a happy girl and she loves a good scratch under the chin. She made us smile the whole time we were out with her - who could resist this lovely face?? We carried on further into the park where we passed two collie type dogs who both snarled and showed their teeth at Blue but she didn't react at all - good girl! Luckily the dogs' owner put them both on the lead when we approached. We stopped for her to have another rest on the way back to CDH - this fitness regime is hard work! I am sure that Blue is not going to be in kennels for long, she has such a lovely temperament and makes friends so easily. Good luck Blue!

Well this little sweetheart should be very proud of herself today, she brought a smile to timid Nicos face. We took the pair of them for a fabulous Christmas walk this morning and beautiful Blue was a dream. She was friendly, gentle and altogether a pleasure to be with. She is like a MASSIVE pug with her squashy face - absolutely gorgeous! Love you Blue, hope you find an enormous and very loving sofa soon xxx

Oh, how I've missed this gorgeous girl! We haven't been able to walk much over the holidays due to illness and visiting family, so it was really lovely to be able to get down yesterday and enjoy the nice crisp morning with this beautiful lady. She's shedding the extra weight wonderfully and is becoming much more active as a result, so she'll definitely need a medium-active family to help her keep her svelte figure and make the most of her youthful exuberance! Blue did seem a little more sedate on our walk than usual, though hopefully she was just having a lazy/off day and it's nothing else, but she was still as loving and wonderful as ever. As much as I'm going to miss my walks with Blue, I really hope she finds her forever home sooner rather than later.

I always see Blue just going out or coming back when I get down to the dogs home so have never been able to take her out. Everytime I did see her though she would just wonder over to me to say hello with her tail wagging. Today i saw that she had yet to go out so I jumped at the chance of finally being able to take her and I was not disappointed! Blue is lovely. Very friendly and gentle but equally stubborn!!! It took a while for us to get her moving down the lane and it was only when another dog walked past did she start to move. I'm not the strongest of people so I'm sure it was quite a sight to people walking past as I often failed to get her to walk (especially when there were people in the distant that she just HAD to say hello too). I loved every minute I was out with her and hope I get the chance to take her out again though I hope she'll be in a forever soon as she so deserves it. Good luck Blue x

Gorgeous pics of Blue ...she is definitely photogenic! I have managed to get 2 walks with Blue as she is such a popular lady! On my first walk she led me to the garage on the trading estate as she could see two men and she wanted to make friends so I had no choice as she is a determined girl lol. Once she had her fuss she was quite happy to continue with her walk and broke into a little trot to chase a robin which had landed on the path in front of her. I stopped by a bench for her to have a rest and she quickly jumped on the seat and onto the table - I was amazed how easily she did this due to her slightly large frame. On my 2nd walk my brother came with me and he was expecting a gentle walk but he was left a little way behind as she was going at a good pace. This diet is definitely giving her more energy. She is very good on the lead and is such a gorgeous girl with a beautiful face I am so surprised that she hasn't already found her forever home.

After quite a few walks with Blue, we were finally introduced to her stubborn side on a very rainy Monday morning. Blue had obviously decided that her bed was far more appealing than a walk in the cold and rain, and after a little walk down the lane, decided that was enough! She's a big dog and has a fair bit of strength to her, but rather than try to pull you one way or another, Blue just stands or sits to make her point. Thankfully she's easy enough to win over and after a little bit of encouragement and playing peekaboo behind parked cars, we managed to get her down to the estate. We persuaded her to walk under the overpass on the estate so there was a bit of shelter, figuring she'd be happier out of the rain, but upon sighting an open garage she decided that was the way to go! Again, we just gave her a bit of a fuss and some encouragement and soon enough she was walking along again. At one point we did stop for a sit down and a cuddle, which seemed to reignite her desire for walkies. For a brief time, at least. Once we were out of the estate, however, Blue dug in her heels and refused to go our usual route down to Grangemoor Park. Rather than just head back we tried to walk her around the over direction and thankfully she seemed happy to explore with us. We actually had to turn Blue around at one point because she wanted to keep going, but there was no pavement on that route and we didn't want to walk on the road with her. She had one more moment of stubbornness and decided to try her luck at the house we were passing by - I guess she just wanted to be out of the rain at that point! A quick fuss and we were off again, back to the Home with a well-walked but very soggy Blue. When she's not spotting little birds in the street or refusing to budge, she's an excellent walker! She was much more herself than on our last walk, though still seemed a little more subdued than in previous weeks/months, so hopefully she'll be off to a big comfy sofa soon enough! I really can't understand how she hasn't been snapped up yet. She's so soft and gentle and loving, with bags of personality and the most gorgeous expressive face! If we were the right family for Blue, I would've probably tried to take her home after our first walk with her. I really hope she's not waiting too much longer for her forever family to come and find her. They certainly won't want for love and laughter with beautiful Blue in their lives!

Oh Sian we just laughed at your description of Blue being stubborn! Our mastiff/ridgeback would just sit or lie down when she decided enough was enough 😀 Good job our dog trainer taught us how to win her round! We are planning to see Blue the weekend.
