Aw, can you just imagine how it would feel to wake up to this gorgeous face every morning? Ronnie is a gorgeous young staffie girl, and as she was out with a volunteer walker when we were taking the pics last week, we only managed to get a few quick snaps as she was verrrrry keen to get back to her kennel for dinner Ronnie is very high energy, so couch potato's need not apply! This girl is looking for an active home! Volunteers walkers at Newport - get your cameras out! Let's see your Ronnie selfies! If you want more information about Ronnie, or would like to meet her, please contact the staff at Newport City Dogs' Home on 01633 290 902 between 11am - 1pm or 2pm - 4pm, Monday to Saturday or pop in for a visit! Ronnie is available for rehoming now, but Newport City Dogs Home does not rehome dogs immediately before Christmas, so applicants would need to discuss timings with the staff. Rehoming fees are from £100 - £200 depending on the age/breed of the dog, and include 1st vaccination, flea & worm treatment, and microchip. It is a condition of the rehoming contract that all dogs are neutered/spayed. All applicants will be homechecked prior to approval.

Hi. It's best to ring the staff at Newport Dogs Home ( number above) to chat about the dogs, as they are caring for them full-time and know them best.

Poor Ronnie is still there. This lively, enthusiastic, "mad as a box of frogs" girl, is desperate to leave her kennel.

Super friendly and affectionate? Check. Characterful and sweet-natured? Check. Absolutely adorable? Check. Ronnie is one pukka pooch you're unlikely to forget in a hurry! I've walked with this gorgeous girl a few times now, and her joyful and sunny personality never fails to shine through. Before yesterday's walk, Ronnie greeted me with a beaming Staffie smile and a tail wagging back and forth in a frenzy once again. And after the initial ever so happy welcome, she enthusiastically led the way at full pelt. Sadly, the dogs at the Newport home are unable to enjoy regular exercise in the fresh air (due to a lack of volunteer walkers), and remain within the confines of their kennels, with no likelihood of a walk, for days at a time.😔 So when Ronnie's given the chance to stretch her little legs, it's completely understandable for her to charge forward at a rate of knots - she has SO much energy to expend in a relatively short space of time! (there are ways and means for Ronnie's future family to help her tone down the tempo, namely using positive training methods and making sure that she has exercise every day, will nip any unwanted behaviour in the bud in due course) Ronnie AlWAYS has time for hugs however! And she makes the most adorable snorting sounds while showering my face (especially my nose! ) with loving licks. On a couple of a occasions during the festive season, Ronnie had a golden opportunity to walk side by side with another of NCDH canine charges. Ronnie relished their company, and it was obvious that she would've loved the freedom to play with both her doggy companions. I really hope that it's not long before Ronnie's happiness can be truly fulfilled - whether it's having fun and games with another woofer, or snuggling up to her special someone: this wonderful bundle of love, energy and enthusiasm deserves the very best that life has to offer.

Poor little Ronnie. She couldn't be more sweet and adorable, and yet the promise of everlasting love with a devoted family still eludes her.😢 Given that Ronnie's super friendly towards people and loves to engage with other dogs too, it just puzzles me why she's still waiting for her forever home. When I walked with Ronnie a few weeks back, she tended to tug on her lead excessively. But during the last couple of walks I've enjoyed with her, Ronnie's taken the opposite tack, and not pulled me along at all - which is a big improvement to her previous energetic pace. She still doesn't hesitate to accept an invite to cosy up on the bench though! Some things will never change - she is a Staffie, after all! Following yesterday's walkies, Ronnie had a golden chance to have a get together with lovely Margot in the yard. It was an absolute joy to see these two sweeties greet each other with delight and enthusiasm. With rapid tail wagging aplenty (and the all-important sniffing of respective rear ends of course!), they were besties in no time! I really hope there's a happy ever after ending just around the corner for precious Ronnie. She deserves a very special home of her own, and a new life filled with love, warmth and happiness.
