The eagle-eyed amongst you might find this lovely boy rather familiar. He is a previous resident at Newport and was formerly called Ludo. Although he found a home, sadly his new adopter became unwell and returned him under doctors’ advice. Alfie is a striking little lad. There is obviously terrier in the mix but he has a round face and a gorgeous, luxurious golden coat. Alfie is only a youngish boy, though, as he was not microchipped when originally found, it is hard to be sure of his exact age. He is very dog-friendly and loves to play. Please throw it again………… I really do love toys. Alfie is a lovely medium-sized boy – about the same size as a cocker spaniel and will need a home with a secure garden as, in his previous home, he took himself off for a couple of solo jaunts, returning a little while later, when he was ready. Hard to be cross with this adorable boy, though. There is one last thing that needs to be said about Alfie. His very mixed parentage (including, I would expect, Shih Tzu) has given him a rather unusual smile, though it causes him no problems. If this happy, funny, face appeals to you, please contact NEWPORT CITY DOGS HOME for more information. TEL 01633 290 902 between 11am - 1pm or 2pm - 4pm, or pop in for a visit! No appointment needed. Rehoming fees are from £100 - £200 depending on the age/breed of the dog, and include 1st vaccination, flea & worm treatment, and microchip. It is a condition of the rehoming contract that all dogs are neutered/spayed aged six months. Subsidised vouchers are available at £35, this is in addition to the rehoming fee. All applicants will be home-checked prior to approval.

Hi I'm really interested In finding out more about this little guy. I'm quite tied up tomorrow but will try and call. We live on a 2 acre small holding and have a licensed 2 kennel dog hotel so have completely secure garden and large exercise paddock. We are also keen hill walkers. My partner is a positive reinforcement dog trainer and teaches puppy classes as well as adolescent classes and fun agility. We have a 2 year old playful easygoing Kelpie who is currently v quiet and depressed as we lost our old dog before Christmas. I'll be in touch. Thanks Tina

Alfie's rehomers have been in touch, it seems he's taking a little while longer than they anticipated for him to settle, but at the moment they are trying to work through it, because he's definitely worth it! If they are unable to cope with his settling-in issues, he may be coming back to the Home. We're keeping our paws crossed for him!

We're not sure whether Alfie has been cat tested, but if you contact the Home tomorrow (they are closed on Sundays) they may be able to give you more information.

He has been rehomed twice, and come back twice, for different reasons, but we are starting to see a pattern.... From the behaviours described by his two rehomers, we think Alfie has been a bit of a hobo in his previous life, probably used to being let out wandering all day long, and returning to his home when he was hungry, or when the sun set, whichever came first! He doesn't like being contained, and although he loves 'everyone' he hasn't really had an opportunity (or taken the opportunity) to bond strongly with his forever peeps. But - he has met a fabulous young couple, who have fallen in love with him, and are prepared to take him on, with all his little foibles. His rehomers were homechecked on the weekend, and passed with flying colours! So we have everything crossed that this little bundle of fun will be going to his forever-and-ever-amen home very soon! They were homechecked on the weekend, by the very experienced Basil, who declared the garden 'safe as houses', so Alfie should be going to his new home very soon! We are rather thrilled for him! And have given him a good talking to! 'Be good Alfie! Forever homes don't come better than this one'!

Woody (was Alfie) at his forever home 🐶
We would like to attach photos for you to see how happy Woody is with us but are struggling to find how to attach them...?
We are totally in love with him and he seems to be getting used to us and his new surroundings. He loves to play and is loved by everyone he meets. He has been on plenty of long walks, which he seems to be getting used to and still adores any toys which has a squeak!
Every night he likes nothing better than a cwtch on the sofa - don't think we could love this little pooch anymore if we tried!!
Thanks for allowing us to give Woody a home and lots of love xx
P.s We have plenty of photos for you to see if there is an easy way to attach them from the phone. It's probably very simple but we just can't work it out!! Can only see a web link..

Oh my word - I can't tell you how happy I am to hear he's settled Try using TINYPIC - upload your pics there, you'll get a list of codes, copy and paste the IMG code for forums and message boards (it will look something like this.... [ IMG]http//i64.tinypic.com/2qsaht.jpg[/IMG]) into your forum message, and when you hit 'create post' we'll all be able to enjoy Woody's pictures!
