Please give a gentle welcome to William
William has only just arrived at the Home, and is still verrrrry unsure of his new surroundings. He doesn't come to the front of his kennel to greet visitors, but prefers to keep himself tucked away on his bed, out of sight. It took a little bit of gentle persuasion and a lot of patience to encourage him to come out to meet us today, but eventually William crept slowly out of his kennel for a toilet break and a little 'getting to know you' time.
William is very compliant, verrrrrry gentle, but totally bewildered at his change of circumstances.
William followed us obediently into the vet room, we took off his lead, and whereas most newbies would have a good sniff around, William took himself into a corner, and tried to make himself as small and as insignificant as possible....
He couldn't be tempted with toys, treats, or anything...
It took an age before William decided that he wanted to get close to us, but we had plenty of time, so we just waited.......
Fast forward forty minutes!
William held onto his tennis ball like a comfort blanket, and although there were no kisses today, he did feel comfortable and relaxed enough to enjoy some first date gentle cwtches...
William won't be able to come out for walks until his vaccinations have kicked in on Sunday, but in the meantime we will be spending lots of time with him in the vet room to try to reduce his anxiety. If his owners don't come forward for him Williams will be available for rehoming from 17th January.
If you would like more information, or would like to meet William, please phone the Dogs' Home: 029 2071 1243 or visit Cardiff Dogs' Home, Westpoint Industrial Estate, Penarth Road, open 7 days a week, 10.30 - 4pm. Mon/Thurs till 6pm
