Please welcome our handsome newbie in K17, Darlow Darlow was having a break from his kennel when we met him yesterday. He wasn't able to go out for walks, but he loves being around people, and took his turn as 'Office Dog' for a few hours. How may I help you today?Darlow's coat is a little threadbare, especially around his tail and back end, but the vets have given him something to see off any little critters, and a healthy nutritious diet will make a huge difference in no time! Fortunately for Darlow, it's nothing but the best for our dogs! BURNS for the big boy! Now then Darlow - let's find out a little more about you! Well, I love people, and I am verrrry focussed when I know there's some good stuff to be had! I can lie down...And I know 'sit' and 'give paw'...I really do have impeccable manners! I have a very soft mouth!
Although Darlow wasn't on the walkers list when we met him yesterday, we do give all our residents a toilet opportunity when we first meet them. We bumped into Lola Beagle, and Darlow showed impeccable 'how d'you do' doggy manners! Well hellooooooo pretty girl! Darlow is available for rehoming from 31st January, and if you would like more information, or would like to meet him, please phone the Dogs' Home: 029 2071 1243 or visit Cardiff Dogs' Home, Westpoint Industrial Estate, Penarth Road, open 7 days a week, 10.30 - 4pm. Took this handsome chappy out today and he's such a loveable character. He does pull on the lead especially walking up the lane because he's so exited to get out and explore, and I don't blame him. Other than that he's absolutely fabulous and a total gem. He does like to go and investigate dogs he sees but he's easily controllable and carries on with his walk. I think he just wants to say hi so just gets a little exited and there nothing wrong with that at all 😊 Athough Darlow does like focusing on his walk he is partial to a fuss now and then, and he does a great sit and paw for a treat. He did eat all of my treats. Ops hehe. Once you're into your walk Darlow shows his character more and does seem more relaxed. All in all Darlow was a fabulous boy and I'm sure he'll find his furever family soon. As soon as you meet him you realise what a great dog he is. Until then I can't wait to walk this handsome guy again 💜🐾

We took Darlow out on Sunday morning and he is definitely one very handsome boy! Like any dog cooped up all day and night, Darlow does pull a little at first, eager to stretch his legs and make the most of being outside. After a little while, however, he walks very nicely and even at heel sometimes, only really pulling when there's someone he wants to go and say hello to. Darlow seems very keen on greeting other dogs but there's zero aggression there - just lots of tail wagging! He's wonderfully alert and it's always nice to see that sort of confidence in a dog in the kennels. As we headed out of the estate Darlow decided to have a quick stop, drop, and roll in the grass, probably smelling some fox droppings, and seemed partial to a belly rub at the same time. He followed on happily enough when asked though, if a little muddier than when we'd taken him out. Darlow would check back on us every so often but wasn't quite sure of us yet to start washing our faces or cuddling in for a cwtch. He was just happy to be out and about and exploring all the new smells of the day. Darlow is very interested in his smells and stopped frequently along our walk to have a good sniff, but he was never too difficult to move away afterwards. At the benches Darlow showed off his impressive sit and paw skills in exchange for some treats, which he took very gently. We tried him with a tennis ball but with little interest, so I found a nice stick and offered it up. Darlow took the stick, again very gently, but then quickly dropped it to one side a moment later. Maybe he didn't want to seem rude and refuse it outright! I've no doubt he'd be a very playful boy off lead/in the garden, but on lead he's just keen to make the most of it. I really doubt Darlow will be waiting for very long before he's snapped up. He's a gorgeous lad with a wonderful temperament and he'll make a lovely addition to the right family!

Had a wonderful St David's Day walk with the Dashing Darlow! He is sooooo handsome and well behaved. He is a strong boy and was keen to get going but after a bit he settled into a steady pace, unless something very interesting took his attention and then he's off like a rocket!!! He takes treats so gently, giving a good sit n paw at the same time. He had a good old roll in something very smelly and was enjoying himself so much I could even put up with the downwind odour for the rest of walk! He's a good to go guy, someone please take him home........ Xx

Had the pleasure of Darlow's company this morning and what a beauty he is. Darlow was excited to be outside and confidently trotted out of hotel CDH proudly carrying a toy tug rope. He was a gent on his lead and bearly pulled as we set of down the lane. He walks very calmly beside you. He does like to explore and play the old drop the rope pick the rope up game which carried on for some time up Penarth Rd. Darlow is a very thirsty boy and we had easily done a bottle of water on our hour trip so would defiantly suggest not leaving without supplies. He's also fond of a treat or 2 and a cheeky ear scratch. On our return he did decide he was going to start barking at some of the other residents as we passed and this is when you could feel his strengh, he is a little power house but is easily controlled with a firm grip. He has ssoooo much love to give and can't see him hanging around for long.
