Please welcome the verrrrry handsome Bambo This gorgeous chunky monkey has been brought in from a neighbouring local authority pound, and as he is fully vaccinated he's already on the walkers list! We only managed to get a few quick pics of Bambo in his kennel today, so Pilgrims - it's over to you! Let's see your Bambo selfies! Bambo is a little underweight, and even though he's on two square meals a day, he still has a keen nose for a treat. It has to be said Bambo could do with learning some table manners *ahem* and is a little snatchy when he gets a whiff of anything tasty! [img style="max-width:100%;" src=" So no treats for Bambo when he's out on his walks Pilgrims! But feel free to ask the staff if he can have a morsel (or two) once he's back in his kennel. We're all heart eh Bambo? As Bambo has been signed over to Cardiff Dogs Home, he is available for rehoming immediately. If you would like more information, or would like to meet him, please phone the Dogs' Home: 029 2071 1243 or visit Cardiff Dogs' Home, Westpoint Industrial Estate, Penarth Road, open 7 days a week, 10.30 - 4pm. Gorgeous Bambo... you stole a piece of my heart today! The heart was definitely young Bambo but the shoulders and hips let you down from being thatboyncy boy you blatantly want to be. He had short bursts of energy following some slow bits. He was a happy strong boy but easy to handle and very responsive. When I took him out late today staff said only 20 minutes.... tbh he didn't want to go far so we just went to the end of the lane age around the estate a couple of times but we had a good sit in the sunshine with lots of scratches and waggy tails. Bambo jumped up to put his paws on my lap and also leant in for snuggles.
Unfortunately I didn't read about Bambo before glingtoday and I was told he was ok with treats... oops! The upside is that I can report he did a nice 'sit' although I suspect he wasn't very comfy as he did seem to sit awkwardly but completely by his own volition... and he took treats gently from me.
He was politely interested in other dogs and people but not a problem.
He needs a loving home asap... as do they all. He would probably prefer a quiet life with not much rushing around. Take life at Bambo pace and he'll be a loving loyal companion without a doubt.
Thank you Bambo for a lovely Sunday afternoon snuggle and stroll...

What is very big and very strong and very soft and gentle? .....Bambo! He has come on home visits the last couple of days. The pattern has been the same on both days, a nice slow stroll to do what a dog must do, for such a powerful dog there is virtually no pulling except a little bit of excitement when he wants to say hello to another dog, but even then he behaved and walked steadily with regular looks back at me. Then he climbed into the car as good as gold for the short ride home. After another gentle wander by the river and it was home for an hour or so of play. This boy loves tennis balls and will entertain himself for ages playing chase around the house, batting the ball around with his huge paws and bouncing after it. However, you cannot rest while this is going on as the human role in this game is to be constantly on hand to rescue the tennis ball from under furniture - I suggest you equip yourself with a walking stick or similar. After about an hour Bambo settled down with his ball near wherever I was working and spent the rest of his time in much less energetic play, chewing a ball or cuddly toy. Score = Tennis balls 3, Eeyore 1 – Bambo wins! By the afternoon he was absolutely exhausted and just went to sleep in the sunshine. A lovely gentle boy who barked at visitors and then immediately made a big fuss of them, gentle as a (rather large) lamb with everyone. He can also deal with self-service on treats if you don't want to be bothered!

Would you look at that gorgeous squishy face?! I'm amazed we've taken this long to snap Bambo up for a walk, because when it comes to doe-eyed ABDs I have no resistance whatsoever! Bambo is a big lad but is gentle as a lamb. He bounded out of the kennel to say hello and had a good old sniff around the gates before trotting out down the lane with us. Poor Bambo seemed to have a bit of a limp/waddle so we didn't take him out for too long, especially as he kept letting us know that he would much rather have a nice lie down or head back home, but what time we spent with this handsome man was certainly not wasted. Bambo walks so wonderfully on lead and even when something grabs his attention he's still very controllable. He showed some interest in other dogs but purely friendly curiosity - Bambo didn't make a peep! He seemed quite happy to see one of the cane corsos (I wasn't sure which, sorry Gambit/Misty!), if only to show off the fact that he had a tennis ball and they didn't. Bambo really loves his tennis balls! He chomped on it happily as we had a nice and relaxed saunter around the estate, stopping occasionally so he could devote some proper attention to chewing it up. Sensing that we weren't going to be throwing the ball for him while he was on the lead (sorry Bambo, but we need to keep our arms in their sockets!), Bambo was quite content to play on his own and would drop the ball then go to chase it, even knocking it away with his paws at times! We carefully offered him some treats and he took them very happily but also very gently, and even sat for us in exchange. Once he figured out who was carrying the treats, he never let Dad wander too far out of his sight! Bambo is a clever boy He's very attentive to commands and just a complete joy to be around. I was treated to a few cwtches and kisses while I tried to take photos and he was soft as can be! His forever family is going to be very lucky indeed to have this gorgeous boy in their lives! I can't figure out how to embed a video here, so this is a link to my facebook video of Bambo trying to choose between tennis ball and kisses and deciding he can have both instead! www.facebook.com/sian.k.alexander.9/videos/10102679867631195/

Can't seem to get the photos on here, shame, as I have some cracking ones of Bambo! I have got the biggest soft spot for this boy. He is the size of a Shetland Pony! I've taken Bambo out twice now and I can't get enough, when he comes out he's just so happy to see you, he's so gentle and loving. Plus he must've had etiquette lessons because both times Bambo has taken treats like an absolute gent, perfect sit and no sign of teeth anywhere! I also have a video of Bambo barking at the ducks by the river, with each bark he does a little hop I can't get over how much he loves cuddles and fuss, he could make anyone smile no doubt. Whoever gives Bambo his forever home are going to be the luckiest people. Hurts me to say as I'd love to keep you for myself , but I hope you're not here much longer big fella !

Had some play time in the garden with this beautiful boy yesterday afternoon and I'm not sure who enjoyed it most!
Bambo is such a character, I challenge anyone to spend some time with him and not feel happy - he is a true tonic!!
I love this gentle giant, he is soft and cuddly and full of life - all at the same time. He would make the best companion for some lucky person, good luck Bambo - you are a star xx

What is this handsome boy still doing here?! After our walk with another CDH gentle giant, Hachi, we only had enough time for a shorter walk and Bambo's name jumped right out at us. He's still quite sore and his limp seemed a little worse than on previous walks, so the staff advised us that it was probably best to stay on the estate and have a sit on the grass. Bambo doesn't let anything get him down though and he trotted right down the lane with us, determined to keep both his walkers together and not let one of us stray too far ahead. We had a tennis ball ready and waiting for him but Bambo had picked himself up a once-squeaky chicken drumstick toy from the kennels and seemed quite happy with his choice. At one point we did offer his the tennis ball but he couldn't make up his mind between the two, dropping one to pick up the other then rushing to pick up the first again, so we took the tennis ball temptation away. Bambo really does love to play and if you won't join in he's only too willing to entertain himself, though he'll do his best to try and tempt you to take part. As we started to head back to the Home after a nice gentle stroll on the grass, Bambo kept dropping his toy and walking off a few steps, but every time I went to pick it up he'd turn right back and try to get to the toy first. He's just so playful and affectionate, a proper puppy at heart if not in age (though honestly I've no idea how old he is). Much as I love a cwtch and play with B ambo, I really hope he finds his forever home soon enough. He needs some good old fashioned TLC and a nice comfy sofa to call his own!
(boy, he does love his treats and is getting so much better at taking them gently!)

If we weren't going away in 7 weeks then we would be asking to introduce Bambo to Rocher (We had him from you 2 years ago). I hope he finds his forever home soon but if he still hasn't been lucky when we get back then I'm sure we will be trying to give Rocher a playmate and Bambo a home.
