Awwww, look who we met in the car park today after her walk! It's Cleo This darling little lady is six years old, and has been signed over to the Home by her owners. We're told she's good with children, and OK with other dogs, but she is a little nervous and anxious, and clearly Cleo isn't a girl who rushes to first base. We missed our chance to take Cleo into the garden for pictures as she was out enjoying the sunshine with one of our Pilgrims, but we managed to catch a few quick pics as she was coming back from her walk. As she has been signed over, the staff will have more information about her background, likes and dislikes, so if you would like more information, or would like to meet Cleo, please phone the Dogs' Home: 029 2071 1243 or visit Cardiff Dogs' Home, Westpoint Industrial Estate, Penarth Road, open 7 days a week, 10.30 - 4pm. Cuddles from Cleo! What a sweet little girl she is. She wasn't too sure about going out for a walk with me at first and was really nervous coming out of the yard into the lane. I did give in and carried her for a little bit, until she'd stopped shaking and maybe trusted me a little more. Once she was down on all fours she walked really well on the lead and showed no aggression with other dogs. A little bit jumpy and nervous and after one encounter with a big dog she decided she'd had enough and turned to return home. Lovely girl. X

Cleo sounds like one of those dogs who will blossom under the care of CDH. I can't wait to see that happen for her.

On Saturday we spent a lot of time in the garden with numerous dogs, but none who adored the bubbles as much as Cleo. The staff noticed she still wasn't coming to the front of her kennel so the girls and I took her in the garden for some girly time. Shelley got some incredible photos as she always does, so here they are: Shelley captured some hilarious shots, which do make Cleo look a little evil - but I promise she isn't. She really captured our hearts and we couldn't stop smiling at seeing just how fast her little tail was wagging! She even turned into a ballet dancer!!

Cleo is a lovely girl! My second time walking her and what a difference a couple of weeks makes! Regular walking has made her much more confident on her walk. Cleo did stop just outside the gates so we had a reassuring cuddle and then she was ready to get going! No aggression with other dogs, she prefers to keep her distance really! She sits lovely for her treats, which she loves!!!! You can hardly feel her on the lead and likes to nudge you with her nose every now and again. Lovely girl, good to go xxx

Cleo is just the sweetest little thing. She's very easy to take out, a bit unsure at first but happy to walk once out again of the Lane. She is not aggressive around other dogs and enjoys a little sit down and a cuddle when out. I can't believe she hasn't been snapped up by now as she's one super special little lady.

Took this lovely girl out for a walk today. She was amazing on the lead and listened when I asked her to wait to cross roads. She likes to have a sniff around but also loves cwtches too. Cleo wasn't bothered when passing people and was happy to just do her thing. Cleo was very well behaved and took treats gently and sat without asking. We were out for over an hour and she was a dream. Thank you Cleo for a lovely walk today

Joined the volunteers today & attended the induction meeting @cdh. Spent some time with the lovely Cleo. She has a mind of her own & didn't want to walk not surprising as she'd already had 1-2 walks before me, so she decided she'd rather relax in the sun & head for the toy box. She was very calm & relaxed in our company & a pleasure to be around. Even though I didn't get to walk her just a bit of time out from the noise of the kennels is never wasted. Lovely little dog! (I will post some pics of her relaxing in the sun)

Lovely Cleo was my first walk after attending induction on Friday, and she didn't want to walk, she wanted to play....and headed straight for the toy box "Walk? When there are toys?" "Think I'll have this one!" And she settled into attacking the squeaky toy. We did get to the gate, but only if I threw it a few yards ahead at a time and she then determinedly took it in her mouth and headed back. She is very nervous at first but settled in for a couple of cuddles and a cwtch before returning home. A delightful and determined lady, hope she finds her new home soon.

If you carry Cleo up the lane a bit she'll walk fine after that. She just needs a bit of encouragement.

Some of our Pilgrims may have noticed Cleo has been feeling a little down recently Sometimes she is reluctant to go out for her walkies, and having ruled out any underlying medical reasons, we think she is getting depressed in kennels. Who can blame her? She has been like a little wallflower, for reasons we simply cannot understand visitors just seem not to notice her But she had some lovely news this week - the fabulous team at Dogs Trust have offered her a place in their super-dooper rehoming centre, and we are hoping that a change of environment will help cheer her up. We will be keeping in touch with the Dogs Trust to find out how she settles in, and hopefully as 'the new girl' Cleo will have lots of rehoming interest. Good luck little lady, we've got our paws crossed for you!
