Big dog lovers are in for a treat, meet Hatchi our resident hunk in kennel 24! Hatchi is your typical gentle giant, he has to be one of the softest dogs I have met in a while. He loves a fuss and stays as close to you as he can until he gets it. Once he has your attention and has enjoyed some gental scratches around the head he is staright on the floor rolling around demanding belly rubs Hatchi also proved to be very gentle with his treats taking them ever so gently after demonstrating a lovely sit. Now clean your lips ...... yummy After cuddles and treats Hatch enjoyed lolloping around the garden with the wind in his face. Hatchi is available for rehoming from 2nd May, if you would like more information, or would like to meet him, please phone the Dogs' Home: 029 2071 1243 or visit Cardiff Dogs' Home, Westpoint Industrial Estate, Penarth Road, open 7 days a week, 10.30 - 4pm. I've had the pleasure of walking Hachi 2 days in a row now and he is the most delightful of dogs. For all his size he is the easiest dog to take out. He walks at a gentle pace and isn't bothered by other dogs at all. He slobbers a little but he's just a real chilled out Charlie and in my opinion one handsome dude! Indeed I think of him as being quite aristocratic - I don't know the breed history but I can imagine it being popular in the French Court of old! He just has that look!!

I think I might be a little bit in love with this handsome squishy-faced boy! We met him very briefly when he first came in and knew we'd have to take him out ourselves eventually - he's just too gorgeous to resist! Thursday morning we got our chance for walkies with Hachi and I'm so glad we did. Hachi is a big dog but is probably one of the softest and most gentle dogs we've ever walked. We were out for about an hour and in that time I don't think he really pulled at the lead once. He's only too happy to just walk at your side or just ahead and keep perfect pace. As a big dog Hachi isn't really built for marathons and he did get a little tired towards the end of our walk, stopping without too much persuasion for a quick cwtch every so often, but so long as you have enough water and plenty of rest stops, he'd probably be quite happy to keep going. Speaking of cwtches, this boy gives some of the best cuddles ever! He cuddles right in and just gazes at you with that wonderful smushy face of his while you give him a fuss. He had a brilliant time rolling around in the grass and adored having his tummy rubbed - at one point he rolled onto his side, his back against my legs, eating the grass while we tickled his belly. Hachi really is just the biggest softie! Hachi takes treats incredibly gently, snuffling around your hand to make sure no fingers get nibbled in the process, and is happy to sit in exchange. I didn't quite manage to get a paw but that's mostly because I couldn't resist those gorgeous eyes of his and withhold a treat long enough to ask He's very happy to say hello to people but doesn't pull to get to them and the same goes for other dogs. Hachi definitely showed some interest in dogs we passed but only fleetingly. At one point we encountered two very friendly off-lead dogs who came over to investigate our handsome mister Hachi and he behaved wonderfully around them, slobbering over them a little before we moved on (the dogs were too interested in Hachi to go with their owner), walking away without any problem. He's truly a gentle giant! Hachi is one amazing, happy, affectionate dog - slobber and all! He's going to make his future forever family very very happy indeed! www.facebook.com/sian.k.alexander.9/videos/10102723597610965/(nothing like rolling in the grass on a sunny day!) My sister and her partner have recently adopted a Dogue De Bordeaux in Scotland from the RSPCA and I visitied them a few weeks ago and loved their dog Roman, so to see another one so soon was a treat (shame it's to see one at the dogs home ) Hachi is lush, a big goof ball! He loves a belly rub for sure! He wasnt any hassle to walk, walked next to me for the majority! While we were out walking we came across Gambit, Hachi wasnt bothered just wanted to say hello and that was it! which is a good thing because he is a big dog so he could cause a ruckus if he wanted but he was good as gold! Only thing that I noticed was when Hachi had a poo on some grass he had a little mad 10 seconds where he just got really excited, he didnt do anything bad just went a bit loopy! My sisters dog does exactly the same thing when he poos on grass...is that a thing with dogues de bordeaux?! Hachi is as soft as a brush! We sat down and there he was paws up on the bench wanting fuss, he's a handsome boy and a great dog, best of luck Hachi!!

Such a squishy face, what's not to love. So gentle on the lead, loves a good stitch behind the ears too. Top tip...if he looks like he's about to shake his head stand well back else you may get covered in drool. Not bothered by other dogs or people and even gets himself out of the way of pasding cyclists.

I know I say this for every dog - and I mean it for every dog too! - but why is Hachi still waiting for his forever home? He's handsome, gentle, oh so cuddly and has that most beautiful squidgy face of his! We didn't have very long for walks on Thursday so it was just the one for us, and we couldn't resist taking this gorgeous gent for a stroll around the trail before it got too hot. He walks perfectly and is very responsive. We had him with a harness and a normal lead, I think because he's being harness trained - he certainly doesn't need two for normal walkies, at least from our point of view. He ignored most dogs we came across, especially when they got yappy, and while he did show a little interest in the more playful dogs there was never any hint of aggression or that he was going to try bowl us over to get to them. Hachi's the perfect gentleman, after all! He was very slobbery that morning but more than made up for it with every other single bit of himself! He'd only recently been neutered so we had to stop him from rolling in the grass, one of his favourite pastimes!, but he took it like a champ and after we maneuvered him away from the grass a few times he picked up and didn't try to meander over that way again. Just the absolute perfect and most handsome boy! Don't miss out on having this squidgy face in your life!
