Every time I see Yasmine's name is still on the walker's list, it breaks my heart. This gorgeous girl has so much love to give but the longer she stays in the kennels, the more she retreats into herself and the more reluctant she is to venture out unless it's for playtime in the garden. With so many other long-terms having found their forever homes recently, I have everything crossed it'll be her turn soon enough. We popped down Tuesday morning and ventured out into the pretty miserable weather, Yasmine and I following closely behind Dad and the lovely Jade. Yasmine did have a few moments of stubbornness, wanting to head back and get out of the rain and cold, but with a good helping of encouragement from all of us (Jade included, who waited so patiently each time we had to coax Yasmine along, and was completely unconcerned about Yasmine following) we managed to have a good 40 minutes or so out and about. Yasmine does seem a little more interested in dogs her size or larger, and it seemed like she was more interested in following Bruno at one point than Jade, but she still walked very well with Jade just ahead. As always, Yasmine was very sweet and gentle with everyone she met. She took her treats so gently and was happy to sit and give paw when asked. She's not entirely sure of dogs up close, I'm not sure she knows how to behave around them, and I'm pretty sure she'd be happiest as the only dog in her forever home (though you'll have to check with the staff), but she's never vocal and never strains at the leash to get to them. Yas just saves all of her love for people, despite what had likely been a very traumatic life before she ended up at CDH. I couldn't get any new photos of her from Tuesday, but I'd be remiss to not post at least one picture of this gorgeous sweet lady!

To say we're gutted in an understatement. Yasmin has been returned to CDH, through no fault of her own She has put on quite a lot of weight, so walkers - she's going to need to double up on her exercise regime for a while! Please put Yasmin top of your list when you come down for walkies!

I was so sad to know that Yasmine had been returned to CDH but couldn't wait to have a good cuddle with her
Yasmine still has a problem walking down the lane on her own (some things never change!) but she is so happy to walk following another dog so that's exactly what we did - following Charlotte with Charlie. Yasmine didn't take her eyes off Charlie for a second during the whole hour we were walking and seemed to really enjoy her time out and about in the sunshine today.
When we got back to kennels she was straight up on the bench waiting for a big cuddle and a fuss - she is still such a sweetheart xxx

Oh Yas, my sweet girl I'm so gutted that she's been brought back again. Much as I love her, I would have gladly gone without seeing her again if it meant she was safe and happy in a forever home. As soon as we go to CDH yesterday morning I checked the list to see if she was available for walkies, and off we went. I asked the staff first if they thought she might need another dog to follow but as she'd only just come back they weren't sure how she was walking, so we figured we'd try it with just her for starters. Surprisingly Yasmine had absolutely no issues walking without a dog to follow, though we made sure to keep her motivated and praised her regularly as we made our way down the lane. She walked like a charm doing her little elegant trot, and her tail was even wagging a little. Yas has put on a few pounds so we made sure to restrict her treats to just one or two as a reward for her good walking (time to dig out the special diet ones for next time!), and even though she was looking a little out of breath by the time we got to the benches for some cuddles, I think she would've happily just kept walking for miles. In fact we came across that patented Yasmine stubbornness when we tried to head back to the Home - the old 'I'll just plonk my bum here and ignore you until we do what I want' trick. But Yasmine can't always get her own way and after some gentle coaxing (sans treats), we got her trotting back the other way soon enough. We had our many cuddles at the benches - Yasmine is a wonderful cuddler! - and had no issues passing other dogs. Yasmine isn't really a fan of other dogs from what I've been told by staff, but she doesn't show any aggressive behaviour around them while she's walking, just some interest. Even then she's easy enough to lead away. I would give anything to see Yasmine in a stable and loving environment for good, and if my situation was different I probably would have tried to take her home many months ago. She's not without her issues but no dog is perfect, and the few issues she has are nothing compared to the absolutely wonderful, sweet, and loving dog that she is. There is a real forever family out there for Yas, who'll give her all the love that she so rightly deserves. I just hope she doesn't have to wait too much longer for them to find her. *Unfortunately from her other walker write-up it seems she's slipped back into her old habits again already. Fingers crossed we can maybe get her confidence back with walking away from CDH.

Does anyone know is Yasmin can be rehomed with other dogs? I know they would need to be check the dogs together just wondering if she is a firm no before I look into it any further as that was the case when I looked into Blaze. Thanks in advance

Things have been a little busy with work etc so we haven't had much of a chance to come down for walks recently, but there's always some time for Yasmine! We took her out for a good long walk on Friday, once we got her away from the Home, and she probably would have happily kept walking. She's slipping back into her old stubborn habits but with the help of Caesar, a couple of low-fat treats, and a lot of encouragement, we managed to get Yasmine down the lane and off towards Grangemoor Park. Once she's away from the Home, Yas is an absolute star. We eventually split from following Caesar and she had no issue whatsoever with continuing on without him. She walks calmly on the lead, never pulling, and is easy enough to move away from other dogs. She takes her diet treats so gently and is very quick to sit and give paw in exchange. We're trying to limit how many she gets as a reward for her good behaviour, as she has packed on the pounds a little, but I'm sure she'll be back down to a healthy figure soon enough. She had a good old roll around in the muddy grass (whoops!), and we enjoyed some lovely cuddles in the sunshine before heading back. It breaks my heart a little each time I see her still waiting patiently for her forever home. There must be a family out there for her somewhere.

Boosting this gorgeous girl up the forum! I have walked Yasmine before and she is such a sweet and affectionate dog who would make the perfect pet for a lucky rehomer! She really shouldn't still be in kennels and seeing the pictures of her looking so sad in kennels breaks my heart She needs a family who can commit to her and take her to her forever home. Please anyone thinking of adopting a dog, come and see Yasmine as she is a fabulous dog who has been so unlucky. Got everything crossed for you Yasmine, good things come to those who wait and you have waited much longer than your fair share!

How old is Yasmine ? Hi, I'm not sure exactly how old Yasmine is but I don't believe she's an old lady. She's certainly young at heart, despite a horrible start in life. Best thing to do would be to give the staff at the Home a call on 029 2071 1243, as they'll have much more info about this beautiful girl, or visit the Home itself - Cardiff Dogs' Home, Westpoint Industrial Estate, Penarth Road, open 7 days a week, 10.30 - 4pm - and ask the staff in person about Yasmine.

Moving this lovely lady to the top of the list. She came for a sleepover again last week and was as good as ever. A few cuddly toys were destroyed during the visit, but everything else remained intact - even my furry slippers which were gently carried and hidden around the hoe, but never shaken or torn. Her manners are impeccable, she has the sweetest nature, is spotless in the house and sleeps silently curled up next to you throughout the night.
I wish she could find someone with a big garden for her to bounce around and sniff, who would give her all the love she so richly deserves, because it would be returned tenfold.
