It appears Photobucket, which has hosted our forum pictures for years, has recently changed their terms and conditions. They have upset a lot of users (to put it mildly) as literally hundreds of thousands of websites, forums, selling sites (including eBay and Amazon), and other social media sites have lost images with no prior notice, and users are being held to ransom and asked to sign up for paid accounts to have their pictures restored It has been reported by the BBC News and it seems fair to say there is understandably a chorus of outrage at this sudden change of use from users worldwide, and we share the frustration and rage that is echoing around the globe at this pretty despicable act. BBC NEWSHowever, there are a number of alternatives that are available, here are a few of the better ones we have found... TinypicVillagePhotosImgBBPlease please keep posting your wonderful Walkers Tales, this forum would not be same without your stories, pictures, and glowing testimonies about our dogs for rehoming.

I also recommend imgur, imageshack, and potentially flickr, though the latter may be a little trickier for linking on the forum.
I'm glad BBC news at least is reporting on it. I've used photobucket for probably 10+ years and it's disgusting the way they're trying to hold photos ransom. I can't see how they're going to be around for much longer after this, so if you have any important photos on there I'd recommend saving them back to your computer or another host before they disappear.

Seems to be working for me at the moment, although sometimes it is really slow. I find if I log off and back on again it seems to work ok?

helenb out of interest do you have a free or paid account for hosting pictures from Photobucket. All of mine were kicked off about 10 days ago and I've slowly seen others disappear too. Curious about those who still seem to have their accounts working. ☺

Mine is free. Sometimes it takes ages to load pics onto it as ads pop up and you can't get rid of them. Yesterday it worked fine and all my old photos are still there. Weird.

I've been looking at the proboards (forum) help pages, and they say forum users shouldn't use imgur, photobucket (yeah, we know)! or flickr, and some people on there have said that tinypics isn't reliable either. I don't know what's going to happen to our forum in 18 months time... even though we have a paid account with photobucket I think from what I've read we will lose all our admin pictures at the end of 2018 Two of the hosting sites that seem to be used by a lot of forum users are village.photos and nickpic.host

UPLOADING DIRECT FROM YOUR FACEBOOK PICTURESOK folks - this seems to work... If you use Facebook uploads your pics to facebook albums. Right click on a pic, and hit 'Copy image address' On your forum post click the 'Insert Image' icon.... and paste (CTRL + V) the image address into the Image URL box.... It works! And it's probably much safer than using an external image hosting site - which as we have discovered to our cost can change their terms & conditions without warning.

I'm guessing that we need to have the pictures uploaded on a public setting rather than friends/private on Facebook. Good to have another option and one that seems safer longer term! ☺ OK folks - this seems to work... If you use Facebook uploads your pics to facebook albums.
