Please welcome the beautiful Sheba This lovely sweet girl is perhaps a bit grey around the muzzle and isn't as light on her paws as she maybe once was, but take it from an owner of an older dog they are amazing to own! ! Sheba would so love another chance at happiness so if you can give that to her call the home on 02920711243 or pop in between 10am and 4pm, 7 days a week She is available for rehoming from 20th August

Had the pleasure of the adorable Sheba in the garden yesterday, what a delight she is. Once the tennis ball was found (Sheba's can sniff out a tennis ball at 50 paces ) all she wanted was a game of fetch and a good drink after all the chasing. She has a wonderful temperament, her coat is like velvet and I fell a little bit in love. Bx

Sheba is an absolute joy to be around. I took her for a short walk Sunday lunchtime & she's just lovely. She's obviously struggling a little on her legs but her inner puppy just wants to come out - her eyes are full of such vigour & love...she just wants to be your friend.
Sheba & I had a short walk up the lane but it wasn't too long before she wanted to head back. Bless her. On our walk though we passed several dogs & Sheba just wanted to play with them...she got so excited:)
On the walk back I decided Sheba needed a little bit of loving so I asked the staff if she could come home with me for the afternoon for a cuddle on a warm sofa.
With the staff's agreement we set off to mine, Sheba did need help getting in & out of the car (I have a large car) but once in she settled perfectly. She was asleep before the end of the lane & I didn't hear a peep from her at all on the journey.
Back at mine Sheba was keen to explore, first was the garden where she did her business - she's obviously house trained....good girl!! Sheba didn't once attempt to venture up the stairs...She must be aware of her limitations. We spent most of the afternoon just chilling. Sheba was more then happy just to sleep wherever I was. Her favourite spot seemed to be the kitchen with her head facing the door taking in the fresh air.
Sheba was the perfect house guest. She didn't put a paw wrong at all.
Sheba has lots of love to give, she loved noting more then coming in for a cuddle.
Sheba also loved plodding around the garden...she even enjoyed a roll around in the grass.
I really enjoyed having Sheba visit...She is welcome anytime.
(I'll try to upload some pics soon - but there is some on the Facebook page for anyone who has it)

Our second walk of the day yesterday was the gorgeous Sheba. The first thing we noticed about Sheba was her beautiful silky and glossy black coat - she has obviously been well looked after. Despite her age and the fact that her legs give her a bit of trouble (only to be expected for an older lady) she is so excited to be out and about. She won't go anywhere without carrying a ball in her mouth so she came out carrying a rubber ball. The second thing we noticed is that her tail is wagging constantly, she is just such a happy and friendly dog. As she can't do long walks we just took her to the end of the lane and back when it was suggested to us that she would benefit from a break from kennels for a few hours. We were glad to be able to help and popped her in our car (still with the ball in her mouth) and set off for the short journey home. Sheba was so excited when she came in the house, wandering around, sniffing everything. She still wouldn't give up that ball though... Although she is an older dog she behaves like a puppy and as soon as she had given our house the onceover she decided to start destroying the rubber ball... Not much left of it by now... Then she decided she wanted to play with what was left of it and kept bringing it to me to throw for her to catch it. This went on for quite a while, I wondered when she would get tired but she didn't show any signs of flagging and in the end I had to stop throwing it for her as I figured she (and I) probably needed a rest. She eventually had a long sleep.. Before we knew it the time had come to take her back to CDH for her dinner and I started to move around near her in the hope she would wake up gradually. She opened her eyes and for a couple of seconds it was obvious she wasn't sure where she was so I sat down next to her and stroked her head gently. Once she realised she was in safe surroundings her tail wagged like mad and I got smothered in licks. She is definitely the waggiest tailed dog I have ever seen. We took her back to CDH and she went back in quite happily, tail still wagging. I hope that she finds the right home soon. This girl only needs a couple of short walks a day and loads of love and cuddles and she will reward you in spades. Oh and make sure you have an endless supply of tennis balls!! Good luck lovely Sheba!

Sheba came home with me for weekend so she could have some time away from kennels. She was an absolute dream to have, she really is faultless. She really was the perfect house guest!! We went to the Amelia Trust Farm for a small dog show, where Sheba wowed the judges and picked up 3 rosettes - clever girl!!! 1st place for best rescue 2nd place for best female 3rd for best golden oldie

I had a short but happy walk with the lovely Sheba yesterday. She might not be a pup any more but she's still a dream doggie. We found a toy bone en route up the lane which she claimed as hers and she was still carrying it when she went back into the kennels! Come on people, there's plenty of life in the old dog yet and Sheba deserves a sofa and someone to cuddle up with!

Sheba has been spending time at my house recently and she has proved herself to be the most amazing girl!! It is a wonder why she has not been snapped up by now, she would make a perfect addition to any family. Sheba's best points:
House trained....we've had no accidents! Sheba even waits by the door to be towel dried after being out in the rain!! Doesn't jump on the sofa until invited Enjoys playtime in the garden & a loves a roll around in the grass Walks very well on the lead and does enjoy her short walks Responds extremely well to humans - in the past few days we have established a very good routine with no problems. Hasn't attempted to climb the stairs once Sleeps through the night, without any noise at all Is happy to be left alone - she literally just sleeps!! Takes treats gently....and she loves her treats! Greets humans very well...she loves nothing more then a fuss being made of her Adores children - she doesn't jump up at all Her tail does not stop wagging...ever....even when dreaming ! She's super pretty She always greets you with her bestest smile She is super super affectionate....she just adores company and is just happy to be in the same room as you She likes Bake off....i think she fancies Paul Bad points - NONE!!!! Sheba is an amazing dog, yes she has poorly legs but this really doesn't stop her doing anything! She has so much love to give and has bundles of energy still. Sheba is sleeping over till Saturday morning but will then be back at the home ready and waiting to meet her adoring fans and potential new humans! I really cannot stress how wonderful Sheba is, please, pop down and meet her....you'll not regret it I promise!

Sheba may not be at the home but she is still looking for a forever home! Sheba has been enjoying an extended sleepover and is continuing to be the perfect house guest. Below are some of the things we have learnt recently: Sheba is not fazed by fireworks (the season seems to get earlier & earlier!) Sheba wasn't too keen on storm Brian...the wind does seem to spook her but she settled well with some reassurance. She continues to like her toys, particularly a tennis ball....but watch out for the rubber toys...they don't last long but she has not chewed a single thing other then a toy!! We popped back to CDH over the weekend for Sheba to have her nails trimmed - Sheba was as good as gold for this, and really enjoyed the opportunity to see humans and pooches whilst we were there. If you are interested in Sheba please feel free to message me and I can tell so you so much more about this gorgeous girl.
