Please whisper a gentle welcome to Persia Persia is a darling terrier girl, and although she has been with us for over a week, she is still completely bewildered at her change of circumstances, and is clearly pining for her owners. Persia seems by nature to be shy and timid, but very affectionate. It takes a little while to earn her trust, and she isn't a great fan of the camera, but Persia hasn't put a paw wrong since she arrived. She has said polite hello's to some of her fellow kennel mates, and seems like a gentle and loving, if somewhat sad, little lady. Portia seems to be in fairly good condition, but she is a little on the portly side, and she does have a sore paw at the moment. She seems to have damaged her front pad, and she will be seeing the vet again soon to ensure that this is the only reason she isn't weight bearing. Portia is on restricted exercise until she is feeling a little better, and in the most part she is happy to potter around the garden and sit in the sun. If you'd like to meet this gentle girl, please contact the staff on 01633 290902, or pop up during opening hours. Between 11am - 1pm and 2pm - 4pm, on weekdays, 11am - 1pm and 2pm - 3.30pm on Saturday. Please note: the home is CLOSED on Sundays. Edited - April 2018Persia did indeed find a wonderful forever home, where for the most part she lived contentedly with another dog, but over recent months Persia has begun to spat with her fur-sister, and her family made the very difficult decision to bring Persia back to Newport City Dogs Home. The staff will be looking to rehome Persia into a household where she is the only dog. Rehoming fees are from £100 - £200 depending on the age/breed of the dog, and include 1st vaccination, flea & worm treatment, neutering and microchip.

She is a beautiful girl. Is she still with you.? She is still at the Home, but I know she has some interest, so you'll need to check to see if the staff are still applications on Persia. She really is a darling girl, will make an amazingly loving pet for the right person. x

What a super girl Persia is. She is not a fan of kennels, but is only too glad to sit on your lap, for ages, and become your best friend. It is so sad that she has been returned, but her family have obviously taken very good care of her and she is in super condition. If you are looking for a friend, who will think that you're the best thing, ever, and are prepared to be the centre of her world, please consider Persia.
