Please welcome the verrrrry handsome Thor This happy-go-lucky fella has a smile that will melt your heart..... We had great fun with Thor in the garden today! He's definitely a class clown, and didn't need much help from us to keep himself entertained Thor is lively, and verrrrry energetic! And as playful as a puppy! He has two speeds - fast and verrrrry fast, but his emergency stops need a bit of work, and he isn't brilliant at taking corners.... Watch out Thor!!!!! Thor is inquisitive.... Shall I go into the tunnel? But when it comes down to it, he's a bit of a scaredy cat! Thor couldn't quite bring himself to go in... Thor was named by a member of staff when he arrived at the Home. Staff member Don is a fan of superheroes, and Thor probably COULD leap tall buildings in a single bound! Well, a very high fence anyway If you'd like to meet Thor please phone the Dogs' Home: 029 2071 1243 or visit Cardiff Dogs' Home, Westpoint Industrial Estate, Penarth Road, open 7 days a week, 10.30 - 4pm. Thor is such a stunning boy and full of life!
He is verrrrrry excitable when he comes out for a walk - but this is only to be expected as he is only a youngster and it must be so frustrating for him to be confined in a kennel for 95% of each day. But once he gets to the end of the lane he visibly relaxes and begins to enjoy the walk -
He does get excited when he sees other dogs but is easily distracted by some tasty treats and would really respond to formal training.
It would be so wonderful if Thor had his own home with a garden to play in and regular exercise.

Just bumping this cheeky chappy up the forum as he is getting over looked. Thor is such a happy go lucky kinda guy and he has got so much better on his walks. He does come out the kennel like a kangaroo but don't let this put you off, Thor is not turning into a kangaroo.. He just gets a little exited. If you just keep walking with him when he's like this he soon settles down. Make sure you take lots and lots of treats with you as Thor loves this. When Thor sees another dog he does get a little fixated but if you distract him with some good old treats he's fine. Once you get onto Penarth road this is where Thor really relaxes after his excitement of coming from the kennels. He responds well to reassurance (Not with harsh or low tone words) and if you distract him with some treats, he is a wonderful wonderful dog who just needs a bit of attention and a family who will put the time and effort into him. This guy has come on leaps and bound. Good luck Thor you deserve it beautiful boy 💙💙💙💙💙

Thor really is a beautiful boy and once his initial energy is spent he relaxes more. He’s just wonderful to take in the garden and will fetch tennis balls for as long as you are prepared to throw them. Once it’s time to go back in there’s never any trouble getting him back on his lead. A fantastic dog just waiting for that special sofa!

Thor is absolutely stunning and yes, he still looking for his forever home.
He is only a youngster with bags of energy, he loves to play catch and would benefit from a home with a garden & plenty of exercise.
Though he can be very over excited when he comes out of kennels (only to be expected) he settles down into a steady walk.
So many of our volunteers really love him (me included!) and want him to find his forever family.

Taken Thor out a couple of times now and he is an incredible dog. Like others have mentioned he is very excitable and inquisitive when he first comes out of the shelter but once you get to the end of the lane he calms right down. He’s not great when other dogs are around but if you stop him and firmly tell him to sit he will and watches patiently for the other dog to pass as he expects a treat. He is incredibly strong and was even pulling me at times like it was nothing (I’m 6’2 and weight 115kg).
I’d say he would respond well to training and would pick things up very quickly. Would definitely suit someone that will take him on good long walks to help him burn through the stacks of energy he has.

Love this boy to bits. He does have lots of energy but he can be worn out easily by throwing tennis balls for him in the garden. He is very gentle, gives the ball up readily for it to be thrown again and will play for as long as you are prepared to. He’s young so needs to exercise those long legs. Afterwards he is very docile and placid. Truly a Prince among dogs!
