Meet the beautiful Zara Zara is a little bit nervous of her new surrounding and took a little bit of encouragement to come out of her kennel, but after some reassurance from aunty Cheryl, we started to see this girl relax a little. Once she had the reassurance she needed it was lovely to see this girl kick up her heels... Like a typical greyhound, once Zara had finished having her mad 20 minutes running around the garden she was ready for a rest. Zara is available for rehoming now. If you'd like to meet her please phone the Dogs' Home: 029 2071 1243 or visit Cardiff Dogs' Home, Westpoint Industrial Estate, Penarth Road, open 7 days a week, 10.30 - 4pm. I was lucky enough to spend some time with this beautiful girl on Sunday at the event at Mermaid Quay. Zara was a little nervous travelling in the car, but was more then happy having a cuddle into auntie June for reassurance, but she did settle a lot better on the way back to the home. I'm sure travelling by care is something that Zara can get used to though. Zara enjoyed being out and about at Mermaid Quay and enjoyed meeting lots of people. We took her with Sheba and they were more then happy to plod along together and were as good as gold in the car together (one in the boot and one on the back seat). Zara enjoyed getting lots of fuss from lots of passers by and loved going in for a cuddle when invited. Zara's confidence increased more and more as we were out. Zara is such a loving girl, she'll make a wonderful companion.

We were lucky enough to be able to take Zara and her buddie Dougie out for a walk together this morning. Zara is a lot smaller than Dougie and walks like a dream, constantly nuzzling into you along the way for a cuddle. She walked very well with Dougie and also passed many other dogs with not the slightest bit of interest. She took her treats very gently and politely too! She also didn't seem at all nervous when passing traffic etc. The only time she jumped was when we got back to the Dogs Home and the workmen were banging in the reception area. A lovely easy dog to walk. I am sure she would make the perfect companion. Good luck Zara!

Have been meaning to post on here for ages to give some update to Zara (we've renamed her Zelda), who is currently lying on her back in her crate in my living room. She was pretty nervous when we first brought her home - it took a lot of encouragement to get her to do anything: into the house, up and down stairs, around the park. She wasn't fully housetrained and we had a couple of accidents in the house, but that's been it. She's an absolute dream, sweet and tolerant and absolutely hilarious! She came on loads once we started socialising her with other greyhounds. She's grown in confidence a lot and doesn't run away from every dog that comes near her in the park anymore! There's a group that we meet up with regularly - without that interaction with those dogs, I think it would have taken her a long time to come out of her shell. Early days: looking a bit ribby Settling in! Making new friends - with her buddy Will! This is Zelda with her good friend Pat - who also came through the dogs home about a year ago! This is her with her other bessie friends, Penny and Moana, who also came through CDH! This was our first trip to the beach a few weeks back www.instagram.com/p/Ba9IVbRlYuP/?taken-by=zeldapoochhttps://www.instagram.com/p/BbH2SZVFaXw I've started an Instagram for her, in case anyone wants to follow her adventures. She's the best dog ever. Thanks to CDH for looking after her before she came home to us! www.instagram.com/ZeldaPooch
