Form an orderly queue please peeps! Meet MacGregor This sweet little fella was picked up by the wardens when he was reported to be straying, and not a minute too soon! Macgregor is a handsome little dude, but he's a little underweight, and was literally hopping with little *visitors* when he arrived Macgregor means business when there's food around! I'm coming to get it, and I'm coming NOW!And he knows how to pick up the pace when it's the verrrrry best pate! The staff at CDH will be looking for a five star home for Macgregor! Preferably someone with breed experience and deep pockets, as due to poor breeding Frenchies can suffer from an lot of inherent health issues. MacGregor's breathing is a tad 'snorty'. Frenchies are not cheap to insure because if they are poorly bred they can be susceptible to any number of inherent health issues. Vet references will be required before the staff will accept applications on Macgregor, and if you think you could offer him the perfect forever home better make it quick as we don't think he'll be waiting long If you'd like to meet him please phone the Dogs' Home: 029 2071 1243 or visit Cardiff Dogs' Home, Westpoint Industrial Estate, Penarth Road, open 7 days a week, 10.30 - 4pm. Oh mister MacGregor. Now I'm not usually one for smaller breeds but I'll never turn a dog down, so I was only too happy to take this little squishy-faced boy out for his midday walkies on Saturday. He's a wonderful little gentleman and walked right by my side pretty much the entire time we were out, often leading me to forget for a minute where he was because he kept getting hidden by my bag . Mac is a big fan of cuddles. A big fan. Every time I stopped for a moment, he was up on his back legs and trying to say hello. As I told him though, four on the floor no matter what size you are, so we saved the cwtches for break time and Mac was happy to oblige. He did have a few stubborn moments where he may have been angling for a treat or to be picked up, but a little encouragement and a fuss and he was trotting away again! He didn't seem to have an issue with the traffic or other dogs we passed, and was well behaved when we stopped to wait for the lights to change. With it being quite warm this weekend I made sure to stop every now and then for a break in the shade, what with poor Mac being a flat-faced breed. We had a lovely sit down under some trees away from the traffic, and Mac did not waste a second before pouncing on me for a proper cuddle . As I said before, he's a big fan of cuddles and is very very affectionate. In fact the only thing he loves more than cuddles are treats. The minute he realised where the treats were hiding, he was a Frenchie-shaped blur trying to wriggle into my bag. He did take the treats incredibly gently and sat when asked, but I'm not sure he can be trusted to not inhale anything left at mouth level! At least not without a little extra training I really doubt Mac will be waiting long for his forever family to find him. He earned a lot of admiring glances while we were out, and had a 'through-the-bars' cuddle from one of the sellers at the Pumping Station as we headed onto the bridge.

Mr MacGregor was our second walk of the day today. We were told by staff that he can be quite stubborn and we may have to carry him a little way to encourage him to walk. This is certainly true - we managed to entice him halfway down the lane by dangling treats in front of him but as he is so little it was a long way down! Eventually we picked him up and carried him to the bottom of the lane and then he was perfectly happy to walk all the way back up, no problem! We then repeated this all over again so at least he had a decent walk. He is absolutely gorgeous though, snorts like mad when you pick him up and loves a cuddle. When we got back to CDH I took him to a bench by the river where he promptly jumped up on my lap and put his head over my shoulder for a cuddle - just like a baby! I don't think this little guy will be around for long........ Here he is in his "I refuse to move" mode...
