Double trouble? Nope! Two little darlings in Kennel 4 this week!
Lady Chi mix and Kathryn yorkie mix have both been signed over to Cardiff Dogs Home, and the staff will be looking for separate homes for these beautiful girlies!
Lady is a tiny chi mix, she is a little nervous, but we *think* that the way to her heart is good food! Lady was absolutely captivated by the smell and taste of pate, as her pate whiskers (and my bloodied fingers) will testify!
Lady and Kathryn have most likely had to compete for food in their previous lives, so my bad for offering the good stuff from my fingers today! We are so grateful to our friends and supporters who keep our fridge stocked with the good stuff.
Sian and Gwyneth and our friends from Victoria Park Barry -
....our dogs thank you from the tips of the tongues to the bottom of their hearts
Lady is very nervous, and gets worried by loud voices and sudden movements. Whilst we don't think there's a bad bone in her body, she would probably feel more comfortable in an adult only household, or with verrrrrrry gentle and understanding children who wouldn't scare her. She is an inquisitive little girl but she frightens easily.
Kathryn is by comparison a happy-go-lucky little lady! So much so that we had to pick her up to get a photo, and Kathryn wasn't particularly impressed .....
.... she would much rather be scooting around on the floor!
It's possible that one or both girls may be in pup and until the staff know for sure the girls won't be leaving the tender care of Cardiff Dogs Home, but the staff will take applications on both. Please be aware though - Lady and Kathryn will not be leaving whilst their womb status is unknown. Alfie Chi in Kennel 38 *may* have a vested interest in the welfare and wellbeing of Lady and Kathryn, and we have promised him that we will make sure his girlfriends are properly taken care of.
Whilst we do not generally put dogs into foster homes, in the event that we have an incoming dog due to whelp, we do prefer that bitches are whelped in a home environment, and if anyone would like to offer to help please email us at friendsofthedogs @ gmail.com (no spaces). Doggy midwives will be given 100% support, all costs will be covered, and even though it's eight weeks of your life you will never get back, you will be giving a pregnant dog and her babies the best possible chance of a happy and healthy litter! Experience preferred
If you would like to meet Lady or Kathryn please phone the Dogs' Home: 029 2071 1243 or visit Cardiff Dogs' Home, Westpoint Industrial Estate, Penarth Road, open 7 days a week, 10.30 - 4pm.
