Please say 'hi' to Vera and Mo These two little darlings are best friends forever, and the staff are looking for a forever home with room for two! Both girls are a little worried and anxious, but they are beginning to settle into the routine of kennel life, and we're hoping that they will get more and more confident now they have hit the walkers list. Mo is the younger of the two. She is marginally more confident that Vera, and is slowly getting used to the company of strangers, and will take pate from our fingers. She is getting curiouser and curiouser around new things, and is always a few steps ahead of Vera. Vera is older and seems very reliant on her bestie Mo. She is definitely coming out of her shell but she gets a great deal of comfort from Mo and we're not sure how she would cope if they were separated. We have promised Vera and Mo that we will keep them together, so if you'd like to meet them both please phone the Dogs' Home: 029 2071 1243 or visit Cardiff Dogs' Home, Westpoint Industrial Estate, Penarth Road, open 7 days a week, 10.30 - 4pm. We took this absolutely adorable pair for a walk on Sunday. To be honest we didn't get all that far ... We had been warned that these little lovelies were simply petrified and they were. Every time we bent down to try and talk to them they cowered 😞 We persevered but they didn't seem to relax so we brought them back. We were lucky enough to be asked to take them into the garden. After removing their leads they dashed into the shed behind the sofa. We didn't really know what to do so waited patiently for them to settle a bit. My son Ollie sat on the sofa and sat and sat, very quietly, and eventually Mo's nose came out round the side of the sofa. He very gently reached down to her and stroked her head, and she stayed, seemed to relax a bit and let him carry on stroking her. After a little while Vera very timidly joined her and while she wasn't quite ready for a stroke she did stay there. Eventually they decided to have a potter in the garden, and we knew Mo had relaxed a bit as she weed on both mine and mums bags!!
sometimes you meet dogs that you can't get out of your thoughts all day. This little pair had that effect on me. Hoping they can find someone to love and trust really soon.

So sad to see Vera and Mo so frightened. Thank goodness they're in a place where people understand they need to be together. They're so gorgeous and I hope a very special person comes for them soon

I took Vera and Mo out today. We went at their pace (2 steps forward, one step back but by the time we cleared the lane, they started to show a little more confidence. By the time we reached the bridge, they were walking much more confidently, and by the time we got to the bus stop on Penarth road, Mo was running and trying to get vera to play. We walked back to the home with both girls walking at quite a pace. What a change in only one hour. They need some time to get their confidence, so I didn't try and pet them , just talked to them and let them enjoy sniffing and trying to tie me in knots! They are adorable. I can't wait to get to know them better, (unless they find their forever sofa quite soon). These girls deserve a lovely home together, and I can't wait to walk them again and get to know them even better.

We took Vera and Mo out this afternoon. They both walked really well, although we got the leads tied up in knots a couple of times. Vera was also quite happy to walk along ahead of Mo down the lane whilst Mo stopped for a couple of small treats. Vera wouldn't take the treats from my hand, she definitely didn't know me well enough for that - well, it was our first date! Both dogs were happy to take the treats from the floor though and Mo was confident enough to take them from your hand. Any more going please? Both dogs were quite happy to walk to the end of the lane, although they were a bit anxious when people were slamming van doors on the trading estate. We took them over to the patch of grass on the estate where it was quieter so they could have a little sniff around then cut back down the quiet path behind the units to the lane back to CDH. They were really cute, touching noses every so often. They are obviously big buddies as when they were waiting to go back into kennels Vera weed on Mo - how many friends would stand for that lol? We also managed to persuade them to come to our outstretched hands for a little scratch under the ears - Mo is much more confident than Vera, but having seen what they were like last week they have improved tremendously. I am sure they are going to continue to gain confidence over the next few weeks and hopefully they will find their forever sofa together soon.

We saw Vera and Mo out this morning. While they were still quite nervous, they looked so much more relaxed than they did when we walked them previously. It's nice to see that the TLC of the staff and pilgrims is working its magic!

Our two teeny tinies have found the perfect forever home It always takes a little while longer when we are rehoming a pair, but this home was definitely worth waiting for! Be lucky little ladies!
