Keep calm everyone. It's just an utterly adorable springer spaniel.... But what a boy! Cooper is a bit special, we have to admit Cooper has been signed over to the Home due to a change in his owners circumstances, he's about 20 months old, and we really don't think he'll be waiting long to meet his forever family - he's a good-to-go boy! Cooper knows his basic commands, and he's as happy, confident and playful as a young dog should be! Cooper loves toys.... And he has the softest mouth! No squeaky duck-faced toys were harmed in this photo session The balls all made it safely back into the toy box too! Look! No teef! Cooper is expecting visitors this week. He's going to try out with the professional sniffer dogs, and if Cooper was born to work rather than be a family pet we've got our paws crossed he will make the grade! But if Cooper decides that all he needs is a loving home with an outdoorsy life and plenty of exercise, he will be looking for an active and loving home that will help him channel his energy and become the fabulous dog he is destined to be. If you'd like to meet him, please contact the staff on 01633 290902 to check whether the staff are taking applications on him, and please watch this page for updates on how Cooper's job interview goes! The Home is open between 11am - 1pm and 2pm - 4pm, on weekdays, 11am - 1pm and 2pm - 3.30pm on Saturday. Please note: the home is CLOSED on Sundays. Rehoming fees are from £120 depending on the age/breed of the dog, and include 1st vaccination, flea & worm treatment, neutering and microchip.

Cooper was super...
And so he's taking a few weeks away from Newport City Dogs Home to learn a little more about this sniffer dog training malarkey.
He was excited to be leaving this afternoon and we'll update you when we have any further news about his progress.

Cooper is identical to our Springer (who turned 2 years old in September) and we were hoping to view him. However, if he makes it through the training and is becomes destined to be a sniffer dog we wish him every success. If it transpires that he doesn't make the grade, we'd love to meet him x

A quick update on Cooper! He has taken to sniffing like a duck to water, and we're pretty sure he's going to pass with flying colours! So for now we're going to move his rehoming thread. If anything changes we will of course keep y'all informed. Good luck Cooper
