Please whisper a gentle welcome to Coby Coby is a soft-faced, soft-coated lurcher, who has only just arrived at the Home. He is very anxious and bewildered, and is clearly missing his family. Coby took a lot of gentle coaxing before we could persuade him to come out for a toilet break and some pictures. He is still quite frightened and although he was quietly compliant, his tail remained tucked between his legs. So we kept everything very calm and low key, and just let Coby take in his new surroundings. It's possible Coby's owners will come forward to claim him, that's clearly what Coby is hoping for, so let's keep our paws crossed someone is missing him and he hasn't been unceremoniously dumped. Meantime the staff and our wonderful Pilgrims will be doing everything we possible can to help him settle, and find his mojo, which was sadly nowhere to be seen today If no-one comes forward to claim Coby he will be available for rehoming from 23rd November, and if you'd like to meet him please contact NEWPORT CITY DOGS HOME for more information. TEL 01633 290 902 between 11am - 1pm and 2pm - 4pm, on weekdays, 11am - 1pm and 2pm - 3.30pm on Saturday. Please note: the home is CLOSED on Sundays. Rehoming fees are from £120 depending on the age/breed of the dog, and include 1st vaccination, flea & worm treatment, neutering and microchip.

Today I met Coby and had the pleasure of spending a good hour with him, he was so nervous and was shaking so much when he came out the kennels and his tail was down, he looked so sad! I took him for a walk and let him lead me around so he could get more comfortable, and eventually he started to come around to me and kept checking where I was. He met Bas and got on well so we went on another walk with Bas, Coby really came into his own and was jumping around looking so happy with his tail up 😊 I ran up and down the field with him and he loved it and was so happy and you could tell he was starting to trust me! Just as we got back to the Home the noise of the gate and the people scared him and he went very timid again. Baby steps Coby, you can do it and I’ll be back down to help you very soon 😍❤️ xx

Coby has been returned to his owners. Stay safe sweetheart, don't be running around the streets on your lonesome again - it's a dangerous world out there
