Please welcome our handsome new pointy boy Farley only arrived at the Home a short while before we took these photo's. He is an ex-racing dog, and had quite a long road journey down to Cardiff this morning, along with his bestie Lee in Kennel 27. Before we showed him to his kennel our walkers were lining up to meet the handsome newbies Farley had two long and leisurely walks on his first day in Wales, we think he rather likes the riverbank scenery and he has heard that only serve the best nom noms at Cardiff Dogs Home... Yup - it's Burns all the way Farley Gene! Just before he went back to his kennel for his afternoon meal, Farley decided he'd like to get to know the kennel staff. He seemed particularly taken with staff member Josh. Kisses on a first date! As Farley has been signed over he will be available for rehoming from 2nd Feb. Meantime he will be seeing our vets in the morning, having his first vaccinations and a general check up first thing Monday morning. If you'd like to meet him please phone the Dogs' Home: 029 2071 1243 or visit Cardiff Dogs' Home, Westpoint Industrial Estate, Penarth Road, open 7 days a week, 10.30 - 4pm. I briefly met Farley Gene on his way back from a walk yesterday afternoon. He seemed relaxed and happy to be out and was very sweet. Poor thing, he looks in need of some tlc, he has some fur missing on his hind quarters, but I'm sure with the care he will get from the staff and volunteers he'll be right as rain in no time. Good luck FG x

Another gorgeous grey boy! I've got one already, would love to have a houseful of them Oh, and don't worry about the missing hair - greyhounds are renowned for baldy bums, often especially noticeable on the black beauties! It's called 'bald thigh syndrome', but it doesn't cause them any worries - a good diet will sometimes fur them back up again!

We took the extremely affectionate and lovely FG out yesterday. Wow, what a cuddle monster. In fact we were compelled to sit down at the first bench we found to cuddle and stroke him which he couldn't get enough of! He was perfect on the lead and loved leaning in on your legs. With his looooong greying nose and his teddy bear soft fur this one's an absolute gem. Come down and meet him and you'll fall in love.

Hi everyone I'm Farley but Alex likes to call me Farls Barls, I can't cope with her ππ We went out early this morning and it was so so cold, but don't worry I had my faux fur lined pimp coat on to keep me toasty warm π On our adventure today we saw some off lead dogs, a big bird called a Heron which I found fascinating, but my most favourite bit of the adventure was watching all these people on canoues on the river. I couldn't take my eyes off them, and Alex told me afterwards that they were all saying how lovely I was. I'm glad I didn't hear them otherwise they'd make me blush πΆπ I love nothing more than having cuddles, I like to stop and lean on you so I can have even more hehe. When I get exited I also do a little bum wiggle and shake and Alex think it's the best π€£π Have a lovely weekend everyone, stay warm. Lots of love Farls Barls πππππππ

Oh, this poor sweet boy. Farley is so gentle and incredibly affectionate, so much so that he kept meandering into our path while walking so we'd have to stop and give him a cuddle each time! I think Farley would've been quite happy to forgo the walk and just have one big cwtch for an hour, though he walked like a dream while we were out and was happy to just follow us whichever way we wandered. He showed only a little interest in other dogs and was happy enough to walk away with us when asked. Farley just loves being around people, and even while you're walking he'll just try and sidle up as close to you as he can, blinking those beautiful brown eyes until you stop for another round of cwtches He took his treats very gently, when he's not cuddling up, and has the softest little ears! Back at CDH one of the staff asked us if we could take him into the garden so he could have a bit of a run around. Initially Farley showed more interest in sitting on the sofa in the shed and having a cuddle, though we managed to have a bit of a jog around with him thanks to some squeaky toys and maybe a bit of running on our part . He was quite gentle with every toy he 'caught' and was only happy to let me take them back so I could throw them again. A handsome and sweet boy who deserves a forever family to cuddle, well, forever! (sorry, Farley, looks like I got your eyes half-closed in every photo )
