How could you not love this face? Shakira has been signed over to the Home through absolutely no fault of her own. She's a happy and very polite darling girl, and gave us a very warm pawshake of friendship! Although we did think that maybe she was holding out for some of the sausages Fair exchange is no robbery! Shakira has quite got the hang of 'catch' but she did realise pretty quickly that if she just sat and watched the sausages ended up on the floor anyway. She's a wise old girl If Shakira can be persuaded to swap sausages for carrots and cut down a little on carbs, it could help extend her life by years, and the staff will be helping Shakira with some calorie counting while she's waiting for her forever home. She's a silvery whiskered girl with a heart of gold, and when she trundles towards you, you know you are in for a licky kissy rottie snog! Shakira's cute underbite gives her a rather puzzled look, but she's a happy and well adjusted girl. She has lived happily with children, and will make a fabulous companion for the right family. If you'd like to meet Shakira, please phone the Dogs' Home: 029 2071 1243 or visit Cardiff Dogs' Home, Westpoint Industrial Estate, Penarth Road, open 7 days a week, 10.30 - 4pm. Shakira is a really low-maintenance, loving, chunk of dog. Her interests are being cuddled, chasing tennis balls and sleeping. She has had a bit of a break from kennels and stayed in my home for the last week and I cannot recommend her highly enough. She is spotlessly clean in the house and sleeps right through the night. Although normally quiet she will bark to say “Hello” if someone passes close by the window. I have had quite a few visitors this week and she has made it her mission to make friends with everyone of them. She really looks forward to her walks and is a delight on the lead, providing you don’t mind stopping regularly to investigate all the good sniffs. I have taken her to an area where she can play off lead and she just loves fetching tennis balls to be thrown again, and again, and again.....
If I had to find a fault it would be that she is a little large for a lap dog, but that doesn't stop her sneaking up the sofa until she on your legs and getting extra cuddles.
She is an absolute delight to have around and would make a wonderful friend for anyone who wants lots of love and has a big gap on their sofa.

Hello Steveb, recall doesn't really enter into it, because apart from chasing the balls Shakira shadowed my every move when she was off the lead, never wandering far from my side or letting me out of her sight.
We haven't met many other dogs out and about, but she has shown a polite interest with those she has been near. One dog barked quite aggressively at her and she ignored it, two little off lead poodles bounced up to her and she just wagged her tail, she parallel walked with Fernando with no problems at all. I have seen no sign of aggression with dogs or people.
I cannot praise this girl highly enough, she will be back in kennels by lunchtime Monday, so do yourself a favour and get down to meet her asap.

Shakira, is a gentle, polite, mature lady who would be at home on your comfy sofa, she is very low maintenance and would make a fantastic companion.

Since I had to cancel all my arrangements today I asked CDH if they had a dog needing respite to keep me company and Shakira was the one they chose. She’s such a sweet natured girl and she is quite at home here snoring away on the sofa in a nice warm room. She’ll be staying overnight and perhaps tomorrow too if the weather is still bad. Her behaviour is impeccable and she’s such a sweet natured girl. I think she’d fit easily into any household.

Me and my mum are really hoping to be able to give Shakira a forever home very soon! we have walked her a few times, very sad that we couldn't make it this week because we got stranded when away but as soon as the snow clears we will be down to the home again to visit. Totally besotted <3

Can’t put in to words how happy I am to see Shakira go to her new home. The comments posted on her seemed exemplary and it seemed so wrong for her ( as is the case for so many) to stick around week on week. be happy beautiful princess Shakira💕
