Please welcome Honey Boo Honey Boo is four years old, and she has been signed over to Newport City Dogs Home by her owner. We have given her a few weeks to settle into the routine of kennel life, as when she arrived Honey Boo was a little frightened and confused, and a little unsure about meeting strangers. Time and patience works wonders though, and Honey Boo is becoming more relaxed by the day. She absolutely loves the company of other dogs, and her best friend in the whole world is fellow resident Hero. But as Honey Boo arrived unspeyed we are making sure these two little darlings are well chaperoned on their play dates! As Honey can still be a little anxious and gets spooked quite easily, she is looking for a child-free home, with or without other dogs. Her applicants will need to commit to regular visits prior to adoption, to give her a chance to get to know them. Honey definitely still has a bit to learn about 'being more dog', but she has come such a long way in a relatively short time, and she now has it all to look forward to! If you'd like to meet Honey Boo please contact NEWPORT CITY DOGS HOME TEL 01633 290 902 between 11am - 1pm and 2pm - 4pm, on weekdays, 11am - 1pm and 2pm - 3.30pm on Saturday. Please note: the home is CLOSED on Sundays. Rehoming fees are from £120 depending on the age/breed of the dog, and include 1st vaccination, flea & worm treatment and neutering.

Anyone who knows me knows that I'm not a fan of chihuahuas. Sorry but there it is. And if I'm honest, Honey was really that fond of me either when we first met.
However I will say that it's been a real joy to see how Honey has settled into life at Newport City Dogs Home over the last few weeks.
She has mixed with dogs of all sizes and ages. She's not afraid to "run with the pack" but she's also not afraid to tell my pesky pup off when she gets a bit too enthusiastic with playtime. Honey has made a real friend with one of the staff members dogs, Erin the poodle.
It struck me yesterday just how far Honey has come in learning to trust people when she voluntarily went to my 9 yr old for a fuss. By her previous family's own admission, Honey was none too fond of the children that she had lived with and until very recently Honey was still a little wary around small people.
For those people that Honey chooses to give her trust to, they will indeed have a loving, playful, happy dog.
So if you have the patience and time that this girl needs, she would love a furever sofa.
As for Honey and I... Well, we're getting along just fine - and that's not something I thought I'd ever be saying! Just goes to show what some time and a little understanding can do! 😉
