Prepare to be bowled over by Skittles This sweet little lady was brought in as a stray. Skittles is a gentle girl, a little timid and shy around strangers, so we didn't crowd her, just let her do her own thing and come to us in her own good time... Our resident greeter of newbies Bas seemed to put Skittles at ease... And after the two new friends had a session of puppy madness for ten minutes in the garden, Skittles really started to chillax If you'd like to meet Skittles pop up to Newport City Dogs Home! TEL 01633 290 902 between 11am - 1pm and 2pm - 4pm, on weekdays, 11am - 1pm and 2pm - 3.30pm on Saturday. Please note: the home is CLOSED on Sundays. Rehoming fees are from £120 depending on the age/breed of the dog, and include 1st vaccination, flea & worm treatment and neutering.

So Skittles came to stay with me for the weekend to give her a break from kennels after her big girl op! After a very stressful start which involved her running out my house, me chasing around for an hour whilst she was sunning herself in my neighbours' garden, we had a very peaceful and relaxing weekend. Skittles is timid and nervous at first but once she starts to trust you, she is a completely different dog. Every single dog who comes to us for fostering we treat as our own dog but Skittles really did get in all of our hearts with her affectionate ways and funny behaviours. If you let Skittles come around to you in her own time you get rewarded with a real diamond of a dog with a lovely temperament and funny character. She is jumpy and will need an understanding home who have the patience to help her realise that a dogs life is more than being scared and being on edge. It is clear that Skittles hasn't seen or felt much kindness so far in her life and it is sad to see how she is just resigned to her fate whatever that may be. But good news Skittles, the lovely people at Friends of the Dogs and Newport Dogs Home are here to show you that it is great to be a dog! Despite her timidness, Skittles made a new friend in Ruby the Parsons Russel Terrier and greeted people we knew gently in her own time when she was comfortable. She had fun in the river cooling off her paws on one hot day. She has the funniest tendencies to lean on you no matter where you are stood and she puts all her weight on you! She also trots around like a little deer and jumps up next to you. She loved sleeping in my bed and wanted to lie on me the whole night i think! She is a really beautiful dog inside and out and I hope someone gives her the chance to live a happy life and also gives her the chance to show her true character as she is so so shy at first. Believe me it is worth it she will make a fab pet for the right person and I hope she can see how much love a dog can get in the right home.

Hi - Could you tell me if Skittles could live happily with another dog? I have a lurcher which we adopted from Cardiff Dogs Home in April last year. Her name was Heidi, and she has blossomed into a beautiful dog since we have had her. She is about 4.5 years old, and is very playful and we would like to get a pal for her, after losing both our older rescue dogs at Christmas. The new dog must be good with other dogs. This is essential.

Hello Dorrie.
Skittles has had some special visitors this weekend and we're confident she'll have some exciting news to share tomorrow or Wednesday.☺️
I do know there are some dog friendly Pointies at Cardiff Dogs Home at the moment including Rose, Cash and Lee so do pop down and ask to meet them.
