Cute Puppy Alert!
Please welcome Pixel!
Before you rush to queue at Cardiff Dogs Home to meet her, we should let you know that within hours of arriving at CDH Pixel had 3 rehoming offers along with their vet references and other support documents, and the staff are no longer taking applications on her. But that's no reason not to give her a rehoming thread! She is rather cute isn't she!
And Pixel gave us a fabulous photo opportunity to thank Burns Pet Nutrition, who very generously sponsor the food for all our Cardiff incoming dogs!
Ooooh, there's a stray bit of kibble Pixel!
Waste not want not!
We are very surprised that no-one has come forward to claim Pixel. She is only about 10 weeks old. We weren't in the least bit surprised at the amount of rehoming interest she had, and the staff set a high bar for potential rehomers. People have queried why the staff want an experienced home for Pixel. Potential rehomers have had to provide a full veterinary reference evidencing that they have previously (or currently) owned a brachycephalic dog, that they have provided all the necessary veterinary care, and that they have kept a dog until end of life. There are many reasons for this, Belle Pug is one, Coco pug is one, Gucci Frenchie is one, Shakka Frenchie is one, Tink Frenchie Bulldog is one..... Flat-faced dogs are very 'trendy' at the moment, but this doesn't stop them being abandoned once they reach young adulthood or maturity, as these five recent incomers have proven. The staff want to KNOW that Pixel's forever peeps will be keepers. The best way to ensure this is to have evidence that they have previously been lifetime keepers for one of these dogs.
Pixel is rather happy that the staff are going the extra mile to ensure she goes to a fabulous home!
And whilst she is waiting until it's time to leave, Pixel is in the care of one of our most trusted volunteers in a home environment. Kennels is no place for such a young pup, as the early weeks and months of her life are so precious and important.
So we are not inviting people to come to meet Pixel, she has 3 amazing applications, and for sure one of them will be approved to take her home. But we couldn't resist sharing her pictures, as she really is adorable!
If you want to be in a position to apply for a young pup, a pedigree or 'designer breed' (all of which tend to get full applications within a very short time) have a read through the adoption process, get your vet reference in hand, and you'll be in a good position to apply to adopt when the right dog for you arrives at one of the centres.
