Hello sweetie Rose is yet another saluki who needed urgent veterinary care when she arrived. She was emaciated, her skin was very sore, she had untreated wounds, and without a doubt she has never known kindness in her young life. Thankfully there are always loving home waiting, and since arriving at the Home Rose has melted the hearts of the staff, volunteers, and more than a few casual visitors to the Home! It's clear Rose has never been quite sure where her next meal is coming from. Although she has been receiving 'little and often' meals to help her tummy get used to a regular nutritious diet, Rose still takes every opportunity to search for extra scraps of food Sighthounds - lurchers, greyhounds, salukis, and other pointy-faced dogs - can make the most loving and low maintenance pets. They tend to be calm, have relatively low exercise needs (especially if they have access to a large garden for an occasional mad five minutes zoomies), and they can be the perfect companion for older households and/or those with mobility issues. For more information or if you'd like to meet Rose please phone the Dogs' Home: 029 2071 1243 or visit Cardiff Dogs' Home, Westpoint Industrial Estate, Penarth Road, open 7 days a week, 10.30 - 4pm. I was so excited to learn that Rose needed a walk when I was down at Cardiff Dogs Home. I've wanted to take her out since before she was on the walkers list. She is such a lovely sweet natured dog in her kennel and remains so on the lead. She trotted along at my heal, for the whole walk, not pulling at all on the lead. Rose doesn't look like she has had a particularly loving start to her life, but she clearly has plenty of love to give to the right family. During her walk she stopped regularly and with a little fuss and attention she continued happily. She has such a worried look on her face. I think she is wondering what the next chapter of her life entails. Rose really needs to find her furrever home and get some certainty in her life!
