Meet Charlie This darling girl was handed in to Newport City Dogs Home by a member of the public who claimed they had found her straying. They didn't hang around long enough for us to find out anything about the circumstances she was found, which is very unusual because generally if someone cares enough to bring a stray dog to the centre they would want to know exactly what will happen to the dog, ask the staff to contact them if she is reunited with her owners etc. We have a feeling Charlie's owner won't be coming to reclaim her, and we don't expect to hear from her 'finder' any time soon either Charlie is a little underweight, and she does have some lumps and bumps which we will be asking the vet to take a look at, but she seems to be a happy girl, and although all the dogs are on restricted walks at the moment due to the weather Charlie had a bit of off-lead fun in the garden. She loves balls! And she's rather partial to treats to! So much so that she was quite happy to go 'sausage dunking' in the pool! Given the opportunity, most dogs will try to regulate their body temperature in weather extremes, they will look for shelter and warmth in the winter, and in the summer smart dogs know how to stay cool Charlie having fun in the pool If you'd like to know more, or would like to meet Charlie please contact the staff on 01633 290902, or pop in to meet him. 11am - 1pm and 2pm - 4pm, on weekdays, 11am - 1pm and 2pm - 3.30pm on Saturday. Please note: the home is CLOSED on Sundays. Rehoming fees are from £120 depending on the age/breed of the dog, and include 1st vaccination, flea & worm treatment and neutering.

OMG she is so beautiful. Please can you let me know what the adoption process is. My son saw her profile & fell in love with her, now all the family are hoping she can join us.

Definitely am popping down to Newport dogs home on Saturday. Will I be allowed to bring my boy Bruce too? He's a 7yr old neutered male Boxer.

Hi Chris.
Absolutely bring Bruce! ☺️ We will help with introductions as that is a key part of the application process.
Come early if you can as the forecast is to be warm again which isn't ideal.
Look forward to seeing you Saturday.

I'll be there on Saturday morning. 🙂
If you come armed with your vet reference for Bruce and photos of your garden it will help speed up the application process 👍

I took Charlie for a walk on Saturday. I was stopped by a few people on my walk admiring how lovely she looked and commented on her fabulous temperament. She is full of energy and absolutely loved being out walking. Charlie walks lovely on the lead, is not bothered by traffic or other dogs and loves meeting people and giving them a kiss Who ever ends up with Charlie will be very lucky as she really is a fantastic dog.

Hello Queen.
The staff are still accepting applications for Charlie at present. Do pop down and see her. If you've previously had a dog you'll need a vet reference so if you're able to bring that with you when you visit it would be helpful ☺️
Hope to see you soon!
