Oh peeps - best bib and tucker Friends have been invited to take part in Cardiff Canine Citizens Charity Dog Show in Fonmon Castle on 4th June
Fonmon is one of the few mediaeval castles which are still lived in as a home. Since it was built by the St. John family c1200, it has only changed hands once. In 1656, during the English Civil War it was bought by Colonel Philip Jones, a direct ancestor of Sir Brooke Boothby, the present owner.
The Dog Show Promoter is Caroline Cowan, of Cardiff Canine Citizens, and she has invited 3 'good causes' to help organise the event and attend on the day. The proceeds from the whole show will be shared amongst the good causes, and obviously Friends will keep the proceeds from their own stall, and the mini event we are running. It's the Doggy Dash ;D
There will be displays, a KC show and a Fun Dog Show, and all sorts of attractions, so it promises to be an amazing day out ;D
There is a lot of pre-show 'work' to be done, and as well as manning our own stall, the Show Organisers will need lots of help on the day. There is parking for 2000 cars - these need to be marshalled in and we need plenty of 'willing hands' to help things run smoothly on the day. Caroline has persuaded Sir Brooke to charge absolutely nothing for the use of the Castle Grounds on the day but the 'quid pro quo' is that the venue must be left spanking clean, so after we've had our fun, we will need plenty of helpers to restore the grounds to it's litterless pre-show condition.
The web-site is under construction, and we'll post details here as soon as we have them. One of our 'responsibilities' as a 'benefactee' organisation will be to sell raffle tickets prior to the Show, so we will be asking people to take some raffle tickets and sell them to your friends, your family, your workmates, etc.
Trade Stalls are being invited, so if you know of any traders who might be glad to bring their wares to sell, please would you PM me (Admin) and we'll send out trade applications.
It's going to be a fabulous event, and we are very grateful to CCC to be invited along. Put it in your diaries now ;D
