Aw Marty *fluttery hearts* Marty is due for rehoming from 30 April, and is a lovely boy, who was as good as gold for his pictures today He's still under assessment, but our guess is he's under 12 months old and gives little puppy pee squirts when he is excited! Very happy and playful but does a lovely little sit for treats! Affectionate and friendly young dude! He has that lovely, bright as a button 'inquisitive ears' look about him, and is a very engaging young lad

Best call the home on Tel: 029 2071 1243, even if he has a reserve they don't always work out so put your name forward.
Come down and meet him, bring your kids and take him for a little stroll. ;D good luck

Very, very sad news, Marty is now at Rainbow Bridge, life hasn't been fair to you Marty, run free and happy - taking all our thoughts with you. Like all Council run pounds, the Home is inspected very regularly by especially trained Police officers who assess each dog as to whether they are 'type' under the Dangerous Dogs Act. The Act prohibits 4 types of dogs and it is illegal to own them without specific exemption from a court. The dogs are judged on their physical characteristics and whether they match the description of a prohibited 'type' if so the dog is PTS. It is very sad news but Marty on inspection was 'typed' and has been put to sleep. This is the law of the land, and no matter how devastated people that knew Marty were, there are no options, the law must be followed. This is happening in pounds all across the country and sadly, is not the first time it has happened at the Home. A great many people are campaigning to have this law changed, arguing that it is the owners that produce dangerous dogs, not the actual breed itself. One of the best known and most influential is: DEED NOT BREEDif you feel strongly, please support them,

i'm guessing he had pitbull characteristics. that is just horrible. when are the powers that be going to see what a stupid law they've made? any dog can be a potential killer in the wrong hands. we had our american bulldog for 9 years and he was the sweetest, most playful loving dog ever, yet in certain states in america they are banned outright and even in this country we had the devil's own job to get him insured because many insurers classed him as a dangerous breed. i'm so sad for this poor dog.

So tragic and wrong. Bless you, Marty, you are a victim of this crazy cruel world us humans have created. I'm glad that you at least enjoyed some comfort and love during your few days at CDH from the kind staff and volunteers. And now you can run free out of harms way. RIP beautiful boy. X
