well, what a 24 hours! lauren, now bow, came home with us. we introduced her to max the rottie in the garden and then let them get to know each other in the house. bow decided she wasn't having max anywhere near her and laid into him, biting him and really having a go. we seperated them and tried them again a bit later on but outside this time but she went straight for him again. max clamped onto bows ear and wouldn't let go and they were both locked in mortal combat for a minute until we managed to part them again. they're both looking very sorry for themselves. i phoned our trainer who gave me some suggestions so now we've gone back to basics. we went out and bought bow a crate of her own and she is now in it and is being left alone. max is being kept away from her until they go out and we're taking them out for walks together throughout the day. they're fine on a walk - it's just when they're free together so we're going to take it one step at a time until she settles in. when max isn't around she's had a good sniff around the downstairs but soon retreats to the crate and her chewy toy. max is eyeing her with great trepidation, even though he's the bigger dog he's now very nervous of her. so, little baby steps for a time to let her settle and for them to get used to each other. if you'd seen them on their walk together this morning you'd never think it was the same two dogs knocking hell out of each other yesterday

Small steps is true our collie was like that for first few days but now they love each other. Good luck!

Hows it gone today? Are they settling together a bit better?
Everything crossed.

the walks today went great, no problems, they both had a good sniff at each other and walked side by side. we tried them in the garden, both on leads and bow went straight for max again and he was terrified and trying to hide from her. he's upstairs now having some quiet time and she's having a roam of the front room and kitchen while he's not around. she's also had a bath because she managed to roll in the mud that we call a lawn and turned from white to dirty brown in an instant - she's a lot easier to lift into the bath than our rottie! ;D

That is very strange cos she obviously hasn't taken a personal dislike to Max or there would be problems walking them together. What is Max doing when she decides to have a go? Is he even looking at her or anything?
