On our way back home from walking Tom (lovely JRT) and Munch at CDH today, the kids and I came across a horrible sight!!
There was traffic backed up for miles by Rover Way and as we got closer I could see why. On the other side of the road was a thin, bloodied dog who was struggling to walk as it was dragging a heavy chain which was attached to a collar around its neck.
I put my hazards on, called the dog who came instantly to me, grabbed his chain and helped him into my car. I headed back to CDH with him, for some much needed attention. Not sure why no one from any of the other cars had helped?? (maybe they had rung the police from their cars or something).
The blood seemed to come from sores all over his body so hopefully he will heal well, with the fab care from CDH.
He is a 'blonde' Suluki' (may have spelt that wrong) and is the double of William who was in recently.
It was really distressing to see him like that on the road with the chain but now he will get many many cwtches I am sure from the walkers (along with medical treatment).
I look forward to seeing him again in a few days to see how he is getting on.

*gulp* oh Lisa, so glad you were there for him I can't believe how many people will just drive on by I saw William at CDH about a week ago, with his 'grandad' ;D Looking splendid, livin' the life, lovin' the love, and honestly, it was so heartwarming to see him It's amazing what a bit of tlc can do for a dog. I bumped into Gus on the weekend too, he was ecstatic with joy at getting a little bit of fuss from his walkers, his tail was like a helicopter rotor, just whizzing in big fat circles, and he was grinning and smiling all over his funny face Good luck blond saluki boy, I'm looking forward to meeting you sweetie

Oh how sad! Good on you for saving him, Lisa! I expect you saved his life if he was in such a bad way. Either that or he could've ended up being hit by a car. Poor little thing, I bet he's feeling better already though!

I wonder if he was straying from the gypsy site on Rover Way? I was approached by some kids from there before wanting to buy Kara to take her "ratting"....

Wouldn't surprise me Conny - there are always animals straying along there. Horses, goats, geese......

Great news, isn't it? The RSPCA have promised to let me know how he is so that's good too. I think we were meant to be there and it was fate that my boot was empty (a rare thing at the moment as we are moving)!
If I find out how he is, I will let everyone know. xx
