This dog is very handsome in the flesh. He is a good weight (not overweight like some Rotties).
He is very calm and has an intelligent air about him. While other dogs were barking, he just calmly looked around with a smile on his face.
We met him on his way back from his walk. The kids and I all got to give him a fuss. Unlike some dogs, he didn't jump up or go crazy but tilted his head to enjoy the attention a bit more.
My husband is smitten with him!

Hi, does anyone now if Tyson has been neutered? Also, does anyone know what he is like with kids? We may try and walk him tomorrow and get to know him a bit more. Our Rottie died a year ago and my lab is still grieving (possibly)...the behaviourist we saw said this may be the case. He thought a calm, neutered male may fit in nicely (Im gutted this excludes Sparkey)..but I love so many of the 'boys' there!!!...Pork Chop, Jason, George, Major, Freddie? ?.....

That's a fab list you've got there Lisa. Good luck choosing if you decide to go down that path.
I'm finding it virtually impossible! X x

I wouldn't normally use the zoom button on a dog's 'privates' but have a peeksie at Lucy & Al's 2nd pic down ;D He looks entire to me But Tyson will be rehomed with the promise of a return visit to see Mr Snippy Lisa, if one of our dogs chooses you neuter and microchip is included in the rehoming fee, and the staff will ask you to phone to make an appointment to bring him back for his little op Neuters and other surgeries are done at the Home on Wednesdays. If there is 'space' in the vet diary, the Home will include some of our own resident dogs on the neuter list. Bitches are normally settled into their new homes first, as it is a slightly more uncomfortable procedure for bitches, and the Home prefer that they recover in the comfort of their new home. So Mr Tyson will be saying bye bye to his baubles (er, can I say that) As Denise says, it must so difficult (but sooooo thrilling) to be in your shoes at the moment There are indeedy some fabulous dogs to choose from. A lot of people would recommend a boy/bitch mix, and if you're looking for calm, you won't find a steadier dog than Sasha/Pepper. Poor lass, I don't know why she's been waiting so long, she adores the lads, and I'd love to see her go to a forever home. Sorry, that was a shameless plug for one of my favourite girlies Bestest luck in your search Lisa - and do share your 'journey' with us S xxx

I was in the waiting area with Daz and his walkers when Tyson came back in as well today - they were good as gold with each other, very chilled out, lovely big boys!

Is Tyson easy to walk?
Reason I ask is that my sons really want us to take him out and when I went to the Home on Wednesday by myself I was going to take him to try without the kids. However, when I asked to take him out I was asked if I had walked him before and said no I hadn't. I was told that no, I couldn't take him so took George instead.

One word - WOW!!! ;D I had the absolute pleasure of walking Tyson today and he is a fantastic boy!! Tyson is by far the easiest dog I have ever walked, not just of the Home dogs, but of all dogs ever! He just walks alongside you, no pulling, no walking in front of you, just by your side for the whole time on a very loose lead. We walked to Starbucks and Tyson was quite happy to sit in the sun for 15 minutes whilst we had our drinks and he had his bowl of water, he's a cheap date I really cannot sing his praises enough......he does an excellent sit and paw, is very gentle taking his treats (and can catch them too!! and is fantastic around other dogs. We encountered an off lead grumpy dog on the Ely Trail who fancied his chances against Tyson and he didnt react at all, he just wagged his stumpy tail at him!! We saw Lucky on the way back to the Home and I think it was love at sight for both of them, they really took to each other I admittedly am a small dog type of person (I have 3 little terriers at home) but this boy is something else, I have totally fallen in love with him! He is probably the biggest dog I have walked at the Home but he was the most gentle, lovely, affectionate and obedient boy. Oh and he is VERY handsome indeed, and if you dont believe me, just ask Lucky in K27! I really hope someone can give him a loving forever home soon, he really does deserve it!

We are coming in tomorrow. We weren't allowed to walk Tyson as a family previously (as the kids are young) so both my husband and I have walked him separately. Does anyone know if we may be allowed to walk him as a family.....as prospective re-homers (is that a real word???). I do love this boy.....I just have to see if my lab does too.....does anyone know how it works when introductions are made? ie is it best to walk them together? etc etc. I presume I need to clear it with someone before I bring my dog in? ;D ;D

Hi Lisa, it might be an idea to give the Home a call in the morning with regards to walking Tyson with the children, Im not entirely sure what their regs are with kids to be honest. I have just turned up with my young nieces on a number of occasions and its been fine but I have been given smaller dogs to walk (but no dog has walked as well as Tyson did today, my nieces could have walked him!!)
With regards to taking your own Lab boy along that should be fine, the Home say that there needs to be one pair of adult hands per dog so if you and your hubbie go you would be ok. Tyson was an absolute gent with every dog he met today so fingers crossed for him and your boy ;D
