If his legs are fine, he should definately have a home soon as he is far too perfect a dog not to be adding joy to someones life. Tyson is beautiful inside and out.

Oh my goodness, I was so touched when I read this Jane. Thank you so very very much. What an incredibly kind thing to say.
The Tyson 'saga' was indeed very frustrating and I have to admit that I was very upset (and very emotional) for quite some time. Even now, I am torn between wanting to see him at the home and not being able to stand seeing him there, especially when it was very likely he would be put to sleep because of his legs. I fell for him totally!!
A few, lovely people offered to get him for me but as I want to remain a part of the 'Friends of Cardiff Dogs Home' and help all the dogs by fundraising and walking etc, I felt I couldn't lie (I am such a rubbish liar).
What cheered me up was the news that another couple were interested in him...but then there was all this uncertainty about his legs. I am not sure how his legs are now??? I have everything crossed for him.
I totally agree about Rotties, ours was just wonderful. She would fill the room with her personality. She was clumsy and dopey and tried desperately to be a lap dog, despite being huge even by Rottie standards!
Its not all bad news though as we did re-home Freddie! Check him out in the 'Happy in thier forever home' section?
If Tyson's legs are OK and he has the all clear from the vets, I am sure that one of those interested people will give him a loving home....if not, if time drags on...I may get a bit devious and end up with 3 dogs!!!
Thank you again Jane, lets keep on re-educating people about this wonderful breed and fight the stigma that exists about them? xx

He is doing great! The staff have done a great job, building him up. I gave him lots of cwtches and was so happy to feel some meat on his bones! Tyson truely is a special dog. He is calm, sweet and affectionate. He is great on the lead and is so funny as he is such a complete wuss! He really is a wimp. He seems very interested in other dogs. He wags his tail and his face lights up when he sees another dog and I think he would love to play. Due to council dog walker restrictions, I have not tested this theory. He would be great in a home with a person or people who do not see a Rottweiler when they look at him but instead the lovely, slightly daft, loving boy he is. I cannot say for sure (obviously) but part of me thinks he might be ok with cats due to his calm and sweetly pathetic nature. I could see him being totally dominated by a cat. Again, there is no way of testing this very personal theory.

Oh my Lisa....he is utterly gorgeous. Hmmm. I'm hoping to get some advice from a trainer about our situation and whether there are certain breeds or ages that would be more likely to work or whether temperament and our behaviour are more important. Fliss has always loved the rotties ....hmmmm...

I don't think it is at all unrealistic to consider Tyson. Our Rottie was always less interested in my dads cat when we visited than either of my lab's.
I have got to know him quite well and although there is no way of knowing until you get him home, he is just a whole different kettle of fish to most other dogs. So calm! Due to his size, he is also slower and less able to chase a cat.
Loving him as I do, I could think of no better home than with you guys! xxxx

Think: don't give up there's plenty of dogs that get on with cats!

Lisa, Skye, thanks for your lovely encouragement. Maybe we'll do some intros. That's if somebody doesn't nip in first. I can't believe he's still there. X x

Can I ask if your cat is ok generally with dogs? Might it be worth desensitising her after recent bad dog experiences?

Hi Skye,
We're actually dog sitting our friends' dog this weekend. We've had him over a few times in the past and he's always respected her as boss and there's never been an incident. I did wonder whether her bad experience would make a difference but as I type, he's keeping out of her way and she's queen of all she surveys, looking down on him from above. All is calm. Having said that, Monty is a very placid minnie dachshund. But it has reassured us that it is a case of making sure the match is right. I'm going to contact a trainer this week to get some advice. For the first time since we took lovely Lilly back I'm thinking this could work. But don't want to rush into anything.
Dxx

All sounds really positive! I think life gets easier once you know what you are looking for, knOwing what your current pet needs ( in your case a more mature relaxed dog might be better than an excited inquisitive puppy?!).. Goodluck!
