Hi Becky xx thank you -she is a fantastic dog .few things we still need to work on + Master her training routine in the park -as she need to focus while out and about ;-) She recovered quickly in 2-3days she was her normal self ,and upset from the "diet" :-))
Hi everyone x Just a quick update -Shy is with us over 140 days -she is what I call a perfect pup I had no damage no pee or poo she is behaving good (still working on attention barking) Having a deaf dog was the best decision we ever made I love days when we come back home and she still sleeping ,I touch gently her cheeks and look at her waking up -it takes a while to sink in that we are back, but then she greets us soo lovely x I tried to get shy to pass a test for a support dog (to help Colin) -I found out 2things 1)-deaf dogs are not trainable 2)-bull breeds are aggressive After initial upset ,I decided that us time to educate people -and we will do everything we can to try to change people's perception about bull breeds and deaf dogs I know we can't change whole world -but we can change one around us Shy got soo many friends and supporters from all over the world -it is so nice to wake up and have a lovely email waiting in my inbox We will be forever grateful to all of you for giving us a chance to have our baby girl in our family Training shy was very easy -I had to be very creative when it comes to hand signals -we bonded so well xxx(apart from nap times as this are reserved for Colin) Now we are focusing on those hand signals and I don't think we gonna do any more (but I never say never) -some of the hand signals where aimed to help my husband . As for today shy my deaf pup knows 40 hand signals 1) sit 2) stay 3)give paw 4) lie down 5) lie down with head down 6) high five 7) roll over 8) play dead 9) sit preety /beg 10)bark ( yes deaf dogs can bark) 11) cover your eyes 12) yes/good dog 13) no/bad dog 14) leave it/off the table lol 15) balance on your head 16)leave food that is offered 17) fetch 18) drop it 19) bed/go to bed 20) walk with me 21) after you/this way/move 22)food time 23)walkies - Shy will bring her lead and harness 24) come to me 25) all done (after we finish training) 26) fetch slippers 27) fetch remote controll 28) wave /figure 8 29) baw 30) spin circles 31) hold olivia lunch bag/object 32)stand up 33) take it ( i point on object and sign) 34) jump over my leg (soon jump pole) 35)-look at me (when offered food in both hands) + separate sigh for when i need Shy to focus 36)- tidy up your toys- 37)- bring me a tissue 38) stand up on 2 legs 39)-mail delivery 40)-bring me a paper
She started like this:
Her first day looked like this
Next few weeks she spent doing mostly this :
Then claiming best seat in the garden ...
Through digging in my garden to found odd things (looks like a building site now lol)
Not to forget funky ears stage ...
To running free
With loads of rest after...
And finally -to being her! Our gorges daughter no 2
Hi everyone Shy is doing great , she loves Dizzy to bits and aafter initial kennel cough shes back to her normal self I need to book her to the vet (yet again)next week as h got a bit of a "stinky problem" -her anal glands it started when she was about 5month old ( dont laugh on what i say next) at first i thought she became a lady lol - i never had a lady dog , and never heard of anal glands neither then it was every few months ... then every few weeks now every few days i learned how to express them ... and trust me its not a nice thing ... just wondering if anyone experienced this kind of thing
Omg it's disgusting! I had never ear about them and the first time the vets did maisys it was sweltering hot and they had to give me a glass of water and a chair cos I was gonna pass out! Even worse is if maisy gets a bit excited usually in the car she can "leak" I was told to put some all bran into her food (even though its dry) to help with this problem. Oh pati u are hardcore. I love maisy but I couldn't do that job for the world! X
Hi everyone Shy has been with us 209 days now ...good news -her anal glands soon need to be expressed that often ...bad news -I'm still doing it ;-) I managed not to forget to take my camera on our daily walks -and today I only fell twice ;-) Shy is doing great-her lead walking improves slowly, and I feel I need to say it again -we are very lucky to have her in our lives-thanks to you all Anyway here are few pic from today xx is was so cold and dogs after a good run where steaming ;-))
hi Guys - thought im going to do a small update how my double troble is doing Shy knows 42 hand signals and i decided that enough is enogh and she wont be a circus dog so after 3 months living with Dizzy -he finally had enough of Shy and we had days of bloody fights that resulted in veterinary treatment- , this will not discourage me -well not yet. day after 3rd fight we had some snow wich colled off the tension a bit ... they are back to being in love and ..Shy learned not to be so pushy here are few pic (as always most of videos are on Shy blog xxx)
