I had a lovely walk with Gavin yesterday! He is a strong boy and pulled initially for the first few minutes of his walk but had calmed down by the time we got to the end of the lane. He has recently had his eyes operated on, and whilst they looked incredibly sore, they really didnt seem to bother him at all. This boy does a killer sit, every time, immediately!! I was very impressed ;D I found this came in really handy when the little bugger decided to play chew with his own lead. As soon as he started chewing I gave him the sit command, he sat, I gave him a treat and he walked on very nicely forgetting about his game!! He takes his treats very softly and really enjoyed a good scratch. A guy fishing by the river took a massive shine to Gavin and Gav was lovely with him, really enjoyed some belly rubs. We passed a fair few dogs on our walk and Gavin wagged his little stumpy tail at all of them. I didnt let him get too close but he was friendly towards them all. I hope his eyes heal up soon and he can recover in a loving home, he is a lovely boy and deserves some home comforts

Had a good old walk with Gavin yesterday morning! He certainly pulled on the first straight, but he's a delightful dog with a beautiful smile - and he loved a good tickle under the chin! His eyes did look sore but he didn't mind I don't think. Eating the lead was an issue - I had to try to convince him it wasn't a game! He enjoyed it even if I didn't so much... Need to bring some treats next time.

Hi Phil, he does love to play with his lead doesnt he! He did this when I walked him but I found that saying the "sit" command whilst having a treat on display worked everytime ;D Give it a try next time you walk him and let us know how you get on.

Shame on me for walking Gavin almost 2 weeks ago now and not posting about him, when here he is waiting patiently on page 2! This was the first time I have ever walked a rottie and I have been missing out! Gavin was excited when he came out for his walk and played with the lead for the first few minutes but after that he settled down quickly and really does do a lovely sit. If you tell him to sit while he is walking ahead and paying little attention to you, down he goes straight away! By the end of the walk he was just a big softie, cuddling up to my legs and clearly enjoying the attention. Gavin is a real lover of people. He is a sweetheart and has clearly gone through the mill with the operations on his eyes. Such a shame that he isn't out of the door already because i'm sure he would be a rewarding companion. Gavin gave back all the attention he got: His eyes are on the mend! Posing Big softie: Lovely sit: Looking like a pup!

Very sad news about Gavin - he had been at the Home a long time and had a lot of Vet Treatment. He was getting more and more distressed in kennels to the point where it was impossible to administer the necessary eye drops without him being sedated, he had in fact bitten when it was tried without. After consultation with the Vets and the Home staff the decision was made to let him go.
Run Free Gavin - we really tried for you - wish things could have been different - we have lots of memories of you having happy times - take them with you knowing you were loved.

This is the worst news, he was such a lovely boy. He changed my perception of Rottweilers! Was hoping to give him some fuss last weekend but he was already out on his walk. Sleep tight Gavin xxx
